Thomas College Voice-Over-IP

Thomas College has Voice Over IP (VoIP) phone capabilities on our campus.

VoIP allows students to use their Thomas extension on any wired or wireless computer network port. The VoIP phone can be programmed with the same extension you have in your room, so when someone calls you it will ring in your room and on your VoIP phone (wherever you may be with it). This also works off-campus using the Thomas VPN.

Voice Over IP phones include caller ID and a message waiting light and can be physical phones or can be software-based phones (soft phones) running on Windows desktops, laptops, or handheld PCs.

The minimum one-time charge (per computer/phone) for this would be $150 and could be used as long as you are a student here.

1. with a Claritel i750 USB handset (cost = +$90)
2. with a Nortel USB headset (cost = +$175)
3. I will use my own headset or speakers and a microphone (cost = $0)
2. Softphone on a Windows 2003 Mobile Edition Handheld PC with built-in microphone and speaker (cost = $150)
3. Hard phone (Nortel i2002) (cost = $400)
