ED558 Educational Statistics
Dr. Stephen Turner
This technologically intensive course requires student
familiarity with the Microsoft Windows system and Excel
Spreadsheets. Students learn how to use The Minitab
System (a professional-level statistical software
package) and discover how its use compares and contrasts
with the use of Excel spreadsheets. Students learn the
difference between description and inference; between
accuracy and precision; between calculating statistics
and the “management interpretations” for those
statistics; discover the role of technology in
introductory courses in statistics and learn how
important the emphasis on technology and applied data is
for changing student attitudes.
AC/FN555 A Business Simulation: Experiencing Strategic and
Tactical Decision Making

This course provides the student with the opportunity to act
as a member of strategic management as part of a
business simulation. This hands-on course will provide
the student with the decision-making tools needed to
make decisions such as those regarding inventory
management, production methods, marketing territories,
and pay structures while allowing them to see the
results of these decisions in terms of profit margin, ROI, and other financial criteria.
This course serves as a substitute for AC551 Accounting for
Management Decisions or as a graduate elective in the
MBA or MBA-HR program. 3 credits.
