What made you decide to choose Thomas?
I chose Thomas for a few different reasons.
First, when I came on campus for a tour, I noticed how everyone was very
friendly and welcoming. I noticed
that the campus seemed to be a tightly knit community, and after four years of
attending, I have seen first hand that is true. Another reason Thomas was my first choice, was due to their academic
reputation. Everyone that I have
talked to about Thomas has agreed that this school is known for how they prepare
their students for life after college. I believe that is one of the reasons that I was able to secure a job at
Enterprise Rent-a-Car which I have already lined up for after graduation.
What has been your favorite class?
I really enjoyed quite a few classes here, but two that
stand out in my mind are Leadership with Professor Karush and Public Speaking
with Mark (Dog) Wallace. I enjoyed
the Leadership class because I feel that it really prepared me for a career
after I get out of school. We did a lot of hands on activities in that course that actually showed us the difference
between a weak and a strong leader. I enjoyed Public Speaking with Dog, because in that class we learned the skills
needed in order to speak efficiently in front of a crowd.
What do you do when you're not studying?
One thing that I really like about college is all the
spare time. On any given night, you could find me in the Athletic
Center playing a wide variety of intramurals. My group of
friends created an intramural team known as the "Fried Eggs".
We play all the sports and have a lot of fun doing it.
I also am part of the Art Club, and take pictures for the school
newspaper. Also, there are a lot of free events put on by the school, from comedians, to hypnotists, to free bowling
nights and free movie nights. There are always things to do, and my advice to anyone would be to get involved on
campus.
How you completed and internship and how was it?
I would recommend to anyone to complete an internship.
I am completing one right now at Republic Coin and Jewelry on
Center Street in Auburn. I like it because it puts everything in use that I have learned inside
the classroom for the past four years. I know that this internship will better prepare me for my job once
graduation has passed.
What advice would you give to new students?
My advice to any new student coming to Thomas would be to
have fun and enjoy college, while at the same time not forgetting why you are
here. Get involved on campus and try new things, but do so responsibly. By managing your time wisely and getting your school work done, you will
have plenty of time to enjoy the other aspects of college.
