DUNCANSON, RODGERS AND MAINES EARN
TOP NAC HONORS
North Atlantic Conference honors were announced today and
Terriers Andrew Duncanson (So., Portland, ME) was named Player of the Year while teammate
Shawn
Rodgers (Fr., Philadelphia, PA) was named conference Rookie of the Year. Head Coach
T. J. Maines (3rd season, Colby '95)
rounded out the awards for the Terriers being named Coach of the Year.
Thomas sophomore guard Andrew Duncanson was named the North
Atlantic Conference Player of the Year in a vote by the conference coaches.
Duncanson, the 2008 NAC Rookie of the Year, led the league in scoring averaging
21.6 points per conference contest and was among the league leaders in assists
(4.2 apg), steals (1.8 spg), free throw percentage (81.6%) and field goal
percentage (47.7%). Duncanson was named to the North Atlantic Conference First
Team and classmate Isaiah Brathwaite earned Honorable Mention recognition.
Terrier freshman forward Shawn Rodgers earned NAC Rookie
of the Year honors. The first year forward led the conference in rebounding
averaging 10.9 caroms per conference contest. Rodgers, who averaged 11.7 points
while shooting 58.1% from the field, teamed with Duncanson to engineer a
turnaround at Thomas that saw the Terriers improve nine wins in conference play
from a season ago.
After leading his team to the top seed in the NAC
tournament, Thomas’ T.J. Maines was named the NAC Coach of the Year. Maines led
his team to a conference 11-3 record and a first place seed in the NAC
Conference Championship this weekend.
