Thomas Drops Contest to Johnson State

WATERVILLE, Maine - Erik Tillberg (Jr., Randolph, VT) would lead the way for Johnson State College on Saturday afternoon scoring four goals, while the Badgers would defeat the Thomas College Terriers by a score of 14-5 in Men's Lacrosse action at Bill Alfond Field on the campus of Colby College.

Johnson State wouldn't take long to get their first goal of the game, scored by Matt Martin (Sr., Conrwall, VT) on an assist from Matt Riani (Sr., Jericho, VT) with 12:21 to go in the first quarter. Thomas would add their first goal with just 1:21 to go in the first quarter when Kolby Peckham (Jr., West Gardiner, ME) would score an unassisted goal. The Badgers took the lead after the first quarter by a score of 3-1.

Three goals would be scored in the second quarter, all coming from the visiting side, and the Terriers would find themselves in a 6-1 disadvantage going into the second half.

In the third quarter, Johnson State would continue their scoring output, posting four more goals to Thomas' one. Peckham would add his second goal of the game for the Terriers, while Justin Connoly (Fr., Jeffersonville, VT), Martin, Tillberg, and Riani would each put one in the back of the net for the Badgers.

In the final quarter, Thomas would make an attempt to get back into the game, scoring the first three goals of the period. Clifford Juntura (Sr., Topsham, ME) would score back to back goals for the home team while Jeremy Parmley (So., Eliot, ME) would add another bringing the score to 10-5 with 8:32 remaining in the game. However, Johnson State would cap off the game with four goals of their own to close out the game for the 14-5 victory.

Tillberg would contribute four goals on the afternoon to go with one assist. Billy Noyes (Jr., Boston, MA) would add three goals and two assists in the contest, while Riani would also tally three goals and one assist for the victorious Badgers. Three people would contribute all the scoring for the Terriers on the afternoon. Peckham would hit the back of the net twice while adding an assist, while Juntura would also have two goals for the game. Parmly would finish out the offense, contributing one goal and two assists.

The win for the Badgers improves them to 3-1 (3-1 NAC), and the loss drops the Terriers to 3-4 (2-2 NAC). The Terriers will hit the field again on April 11, when they travel to face Castleton State for a 1:00 game, while Johnson will play again on April 7th when they travel to face SUNY Cobleskill at 4:00 pm.
