Lady Terriers Drop Contest to Beavers

WATERVILLE, Maine - Thomas College welcomed the University of Maine at Farmington to Alumni Field on Thursday afternoon for a North Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse match up. The Lady Beavers would come out on top winning by a 15-3 margin.  The Beavers improve their record to 3-4 overall (2-3 NAC), while the Terriers drop to 1-8 (0-4 NAC). Andrea Knox (So. North Waterboro, ME) would save four shots on the afternoon for the Beavers while Nicole Foss (So. Addison, ME) would block away eight.

Amie Daniels (Fr. Lewiston, ME) would start her day off quickly for the Beavers, scoring just 4:01 into the first half on a free position shot. The Beavers would roll off four more goals, including another by Daniels, before Thomas would be able to answer back.

Megan Denby (So. Copiague, NY) would score the first goal for the Terriers with 15:41 remaining in the first half. The Terriers would add another goal after a ten minute dry period for both teams, when Kristalynn Kidd (So. Plainfield, CT) would put one in the back of the net with 5:50 to go in the half, pulling the score to 5-2 in favor of the Beavers.

To finish off the half, the Beavers would retaliate with two straight goals of their own, one by Eryn Neptune(Fr. Readfield, ME ), and the other by Julie Sexton(So. Manchester, ME), assisted by Jessia LaCasse (Jr. Barnstable, MA).

In the second half, Ashley Wentworth (Jr. North Berwick, ME) would start off the half strong for the Beavers, scoring two straight goals. Denby would add her second goal of the game with 19:24 remaining in the game, putting the Terriers down by a 3-9 score.

The Beavers would finish off the game with six straight goals, however, finishing the game with a 15-3 score.

Farmington was led by Daniels, Wentworth and Devon Daigle (Fr. Lewiston, ME), who would score four, three and two goals, respectively. Lucy Sargent (Jr. York, ME), Kaeleigh Barker (Sr. Chichester, NH), Marilyn Grabowski (Fr. Topsham, ME), Sexton, Neptune, and Kara Hudson (Jr. Wells, ME) would each add one.

Thomas was led by Denby with her two goals, while Kidd would add the other goal for the Terriers.

Thomas' next game comes on Saturday when they face Bridgwater State in a 1:00 game, while Farmington will also play Saturday when they travel to Daniel Webster for a 4:00 contest.
