Thomas Women's Basketball Beat by MMA
Thomas 38, MMA 61

Castine, Maine -- The Lady Mariners won their first conference game of the year over the Terriers Saturday afternoon 61-38. MMA led 31-18 at the half and cruised to the 23-point victory. The Lady Mariners out rebounded the Terriers 48-34 and shot 38% from the floor while Thomas only managed to shoot 29.6% from the field. MMA played tremendous defense throughout the game, forcing the Terriers in to 25 turnovers.

Elizabeth Cote (Brewer, ME) led the way for the Lady Mariners scoring 21 points and grabbing 4 rebounds in only 19 minutes of action.  Megan Franklin (Skowhegan, ME) played outstanding in the win scoring 7 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and dishing 2 assists. Tatum Welch (Newport, ME) had 7 points and 7 rebounds while Amethyst Cousins (Tremont, ME) added 6 rebounds and 4 steals in the win.

Thomas was led by Lea McNary's (Marlborough, CT) 11 points and 9 rebounds in 27 minutes of action. Freshman forward Cortney Barett played well in the loss scoring 10 points. Karen Demers (Sanford, ME) added 6 points for the Terriers.

Thomas Women's Basketball Defeats St. Joe's
Thomas 64, St. Joe's 59

Standish, Maine -- The Saint Joseph's College Women's Basketball team hosted in-state rival Thomas College on Wednesday evening and was edged by a five point margin, 64-59. SO Allison Miner (Pembroke, NH) had her best game of the season with 9 rebounds and a season-high 15 points. The Terriers were led by JR Amy Miles (Waldo, ME) and FY Cortney Barrett (Monmouth, ME) with 17 point apiece.

St. Joe's drops to 4-3 on the young season and Thomas College improves to 3-2 with the victory.

St. Joe's fell behind 15-8 with nine minutes remaining in the first half
after forward Cortney Barrett hit jumpers on consecutive Terrier
possessions. The five minutes that followed was all St. Joe's, as they
went on a 14-3 run to take the lead 22-18 with 3:39 left in the half. FY Erin Cartwright (Acton, MA) sparked the run, grabbing 2 steals and a rebound on defense. Cartwright also dealt 2 assists and hit a jumpshot in the SJC run. SR Marie Lint (Orono, ME) provided some offensive punch off the bench, as she nailed two jump shots during the five minute span.

Saint Joseph's College led the Terriers of Thomas College, 29-28, going into halftime.

The St. Joe's women extended their lead to six points when Marie Lint
hit a jump shot to put her team ahead, 42-36, four minutes into the
second half. The Terriers turned up the heat on SJC and went on a 16-4 run to take the lead, 52-46, with eight minutes left in the game. The Terriers "D" grabbed four steals and FY Cortney Barrett scored 6 points off two jumpshots and 2 free throws to help stake her team's advantage.

Erin Cartwright and Allison Miner led the way as St. Joe's rattled off
eight unanswered points to regain the lead, 54-52, with 5:44 remaining. Thomas fought back to take the lead, 64-55, with a 12-1 offensive outburst highlighted by the Terriers making 6 of 8 free throw attempts. St. Joe's ran out of time on their comeback bid, losing by a final score of 64-59.

St. Joe's Erin Cartwright displayed a solid effort in the loss and
scored 9 points while grabbing 8 boards and 3 steals. Marie Lint played well off the bench and scored 8 points and SO Carolyn Freeman (Scarborough, ME) racked up 10 rebounds in the game for Saint Joseph's College.

Terrier's guard Mallorie Blakney scored 13 points with 6 rebounds and 5 steals in the Thomas victory.

Thomas Out Matched by UNE
Thomas 45, UNE 57

Waterville, Maine - Thomas College's Womens's Basketball Team lost to the University of New England'sWomen's Basketball Team 57-45, at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium. Thomas was lead by Karen Demers with nine points, three rebounds, and three steals. Cortney Barrett also chipped in eight points, five rebounds, and three blocks in a losing effort

The University of New England was led by Marissa Hesketh with 24 points and seven rebounds. New England's Katie Diggins also contributed towards the win with 11 points and 19 rebounds.

Thomas College will next play St. Joseph's College on Saturday, December 5 at 5:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's College
