Thomas Comes Up Short vs UMFK
Thomas 66, UMFK 80
Waterville, Maine-- Despite a late rally, the Thomas College men's basketball team fell short
against the University of Maine Fort Kent (3-6) by the score of 80-66 at Larry
Mahaney Gymnasium at Thomas College on Friday night.
Fort Kent's Jimmy Lopez led all scorers with 19 points, including four
three-pointers. Chipping in were teammates Hamill Bassue (15 points), Gediminas
Sumyla (10 points), Edmundas Akstinas (10 points), and Othniel Hyliger (10
points, nine rebounds). David Gabriel was lead rebounder in the game with ten.
Although Thomas (2-3) trailed
most of the game by double-digits and at half by the
score of 38-27, the Terriers managed to trim the lead
down to nine late in the second half but never to get
any closer. Thomas was led by Isaiah Brathwaite with 18
points while contributing seven rebounds. Andrew
Duncanson had 17 points to go along with four assists
and Darrell Alexander chipped in with 14 points.

Thomas Men's Basketball Held

-- The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team outscored Thomas
College 18-8 over the game's final six minutes in taking a 64-52 victory in
North Atlantic Conference action on Wednesday night in Dearborn Gym.
The Beavers upped their mark to 3-1 with the win, while the Terriers evened
their record at 2-2.
Matt St. John (Wayne, ME)
led the way for the Beavers with a game-high 16 points, including a pair of
3-pointers down the stretch to take the win, while Josh Tanguay (Gorham, ME)
added 13 points and nine rebounds in the paint.
A see-saw affair throughout the first half and into the second stanza,
Farmington took the lead for the good on a Tanguay layup with 12:21 left in the
contest to make it 39-37. The Beavers pushed the advantage to nine points, but
Thomas persisted with a Darrell Alexander (Fairfield, TX) basket with 6:34
remaining cutting the lead to 46-44.
Farmington went on a 7-0 run
-- finished by a St. John 3-pointer -- to increase the command
to 53-44 with 3:52 left to play. The Beavers went seven of 10 from the foul line
down the stretch to seal the win.

(Jay, ME)
chipped in eight points and 11 rebounds for the Beavers, but missed nearly the
entire second half after picking up his third and fourth fouls just after
intermission. Eric Lelansky (Portland, ME)
hit three 3-pointers for nine points.
Andrew Duncanson (Portland, ME) paced the Terriers with 15 points and six
steals. Alexander finished with 12 points and Isaiah Brathwaite (Farmington, ME)
chipped in 10 points.

Thomas Falls to In-Town Rival
Thomas 58, Colby 84
Waterville, Maine-- The Thomas
men's basketball team fell to Colby College in a battle
of the Waterville colleges by the score of 84-58 at
Larry Mahaney Gymnasium at Thomas College.
Colby (2-0) jumped out to a 42-25
first half lead by putting up an impressive three-point
field goal percentage. Colby shot 9-15 from three and
were led by Mark Gaudet who was 3-3 on way to his 11
first half points. Colby was led by Artie Cutrone with
18 points while racking up eight assists. Mac Simpson
netted 16. Preston Decker and Adam Choice each brought
down eight boards. Gaudet finished the game with 12
points.
Thomas (2-1) showed life in the second half by keeping the margin within reach
but never could completely claw their way back. Andrew Duncanson led Thomas with
25 points to go along with four assists. Darrell Alexander dropped 12 points
while Michael Burchill led the team in rebounds with eight.
Thomas' next game will be at the
University of Farmington on November 28 at 7:30 pm.

Thomas, UNE Win Out in Classic
Thomas 85, Unity 32; UNE 87, Fisher 41

Maine--The Men's Basketball Charlie Ryan Classic concluded on Saturday afternoon at
Larry Mahaney Gymnasium at Thomas College. The University of New England
defeated Fisher College by the score of 87-41 and Thomas cruised in the second
game with a win over Unity College, 85-32.
The University of New England went 2-0 on the weekend with the win over Fisher
College. A stellar first half by UNE's Johnnie Jefferson led the scoring attack.
Jefferson racked up 16 points and seven rebounds, and finished the game with 18
points and nine rebounds. Also, the team shot a combined 15-18 from the free
throw line to jump out to an early lead in the first half. Other double digit
scorers from UNE included Steve Belmonte (10 points), Matt Thompson (19 points),
and Isaac Stickney (15 points). The top scorer for Fisher College was Treva
Holmes with seven.
Thomas, also 2-0 on the weekend, grabbed a big first half lead, 50-17, against
Unity College. Andrew Duncanson netted 14 and Michael Burchill led Thomas with
18 points and eight rebounds. Unity's Ned Girard led his team in both points and
rebounds with 14 and 12, respectively.
Thomas next game will be Monday, November 19, against Colby College, at 7:00 pm
at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium.

Thomas hosts Charlie Ryan
Classic
Thomas 91, Fisher 76; UNE 102, Unity 35
Waterville, Maine--Thomas College plays host to the Men's Basketball Charlie Ryan Classic this
weekend as the first set of games came to an end at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium on
Friday night. The University of New England took the first game of the
double-header by defeating Unity College by the score of 102-35. Thomas won a
battle with Fisher College in the second game by a score of 91-76.
The University of New England jumped out to an early lead against Unity and took
a 58-16 lead into the half. Matt Thompson led UNE with 20 points. Top scorer for
Unity was Nate Kelly who netted ten.
Thomas scoring attack was led by Isaiah Brathwaite and Darrell Alexander who
had 20 and 18 points respectively. Thomas grabbed a 40-32 lead by halftime and
stretched it out in the second half. Brathwaite also led the team in rebounds
with seven. Unitys Stephen Rice recorded a double-double with 24 points and 15
rebounds. Louis Williams netted 16 points with three assists.
The Charlie Ryan Classic will continue Saturday, November 17, at Larry Mahaney
Gymnasium. UNE will play Fisher College at 12:00 pm as Thomas will face-off
against Unity College at 2:00 pm.
