Husson Over Thomas 2-0
Bangor, ME - The Eagles cruised to
a 2-0 victory over Thomas College. Husson upped their
record to 8-1 in the NAC and 10-6-1 overall while Thomas
falls to 1-6-1 NAC play and 8-6-2 overall.
Samantha Homer (SO, Charlton, MA)
scored the Eagles first goal with just under 10 minutes
to play in the first half. Homer gathered in a lose
ball and fired a shot past Lindsay Thornton (SO, West
Gardiner, ME) from 20 yards out.
Caitlin LaBorne (FY, Scarborough,
ME) found the next off a defensive miscue six minutes
later making it 2-0 at the half. The second half was
scoreless with Husson out shooting Thomas 15-0. The
Eagles had 31 shots for the game while the Terriers had
one shot on goal.
Thornton ended with 10 saves while
Tatyana Wolterbeek (JR, Wells, ME) and Jen Plourde (SO,
Howland, ME) split goalie duties for Husson, neither
recorded a save.

- Thomas College's Women's Soccer Team (8-5-2) beat Lyndon
State College's Women's Soccer Team (5-7) 2-1, at Alumni Field.Thomas was led by Karen Demers who scored both of Thomas' goals in the first
half. Lyndon State stayed close with a goal by Angel Phelps right before the end
of the first half.
Thomas' goalkeeper Lindsay Thornton made 12 saves on 19 shots in keeping Lyndon
State's offense in check. Lyndon State's goalkeeper Kari Johnson made four saves
on 18 shots in a losing effort.
Thomas will next play Husson College on Wednesday, October 17 at 3:00p.m. at
Husson College.

ELMS WOMEN'S SOCCER DOWNS THOMAS IN DOUBLE OVERTIME,

Krystyna Gagne (Methuen, MA) tallied her team-leading seventh
goal of the year and sophomore midfielder
Maggie Rivers (Dalton, MA)
netted the game-winner in the 103rd minute to help lift the Blazers
to a thrilling 2-1 double-overtime win over Thomas College in Saturday's North
Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's soccer game at Leary Field.
With the win, Elms College won for the third time in its last four games to
improve to 5-8-1 overall, 4-3-1 NAC. Thomas fell to 7-5-2, 1-5-1 NAC.
Gagne opened the scoring just 1:03 into the match when she collected a ball
inside the penalty area and fired a shot inside the far post past Thomas
sophomore goalkeeper Lindsay Thornton
(West Gardiner, ME).
Junior midfielder Brittany Morin
(Winslow, ME) answered for the Terriers in the 49th
minute when she dribbled past a defender and fired a shot over Elms College
junior goalkeeper Shannon Donnelly
(Florence, MA) to knot the game at 1-1.
The game remained tied at 1-all when Rivers dribbled past a defender and beat
Thornton 2:31 into the second overtime for her first goal of the year to provide
the winning margin.
Donnelly finished with two stops for the Blazers, while Thornton turned aside 14
shots in the losing effort.

- Thomas College's Women's Soccer Team (6-4-2) lost to the
University of Maine at Farmington (9-3-0) 2-0, at Alumni Field.The University of Maine at Farmington scored first when Jackie Mrazik scored
four minutes into the first half. The University of Maine at Farmington then
added another goal when Liv Irons scored with 14:41 left in the first half.
Thomas was led by Brittany Morin and Karen Demers who both had two shots each.
Thomas' goal keeper Lindsay Thornton made eight saves on 18 shots, in keeping
the game close. The University of Maine at Farmington's goal keeper Kerry
Kowalczyk made four save on four shots, in earning the shutout. Thomas College will next play the University of Maine at Augusta on Wednesday,
October 7 at 4:00 p.m. at the University of Maine at Augusta.
