Husson Wins John Queenan
Golf Tournament
CASCO, MAINE – Six schools participated in the annual John Queenan Memorial Golf
Tournament hosted by Saint Joseph's College at Point Sebago. Husson won the
event with a team score of 296. JR Brent Profenno (Standish, ME) of USM was the medalist with a 71.
The Monks finished in second with a team score of 310 and were led by SR Chris
Deroche (Portland, ME) with a 73. SR Francois Renaud (E. Middlebury, VT) had a
75 and SO Matt Cotreau (Lunenberg, MA) had a 79. Rounding out the SJC scoring
was JR Andy LeConte (York, ME) with an 83.

Thomas Wins the MMA Match Play Challenge
Brandon Flint led Thomas College by winning his match 7 & 6 as Thomas won the
MMA Match Play Challenge, 8-2. The rest of the final results are:

Husson takes UMF Invitational
BELGRADE LAKES
-- Husson College totaled a 321 to win the University of
Maine at Farmington Invitational at Belgrade Lakes Golf
Club today.
Husson was followed by Colby (331), the host Beavers
(334), St. Joseph's (336), University of Southern Maine
(347), Thomas (353), University of New England (358) and
Maine Maritime Academy (394).
UMF's Brandon Poulin (Gorham, ME) was the top
medalist with a 79. After matching cards, Poulin won the
honors with a birdie on the 18th hole. Teammate Kyle
Feltis (Bristol, ME) and Husson's Adam Duplisea and
Ben Estabrook also carded 79s.

WATERVILLE, September 15—Husson College wins the Maine Intercollegiate
Championship with a score of 627, at Natanis Golf Course.
The rest of the participants included in the tournament finished as followes:
St. Joseph's College (645), Bowdoin College (645), Bates College (665),
University of Southern Maine (671), University of Maine at Farmington (677),
Thomas College (686), Colby College (707), University of New England (710),
University of Maine at Presque Isle (771), and Southern Maine Community College
(789).
Bowdoin College’s Ryan Blossom won the individual medal at the
championship, with a score of 151. Along with Blossom the top ten golfers are
named to All State Honors. The other golfers who made the top ten were: Husson
College’s Adam Duplisea (153), Husson College’s Josh Galligher (155), Bates
College’s Kurt Schuler (156), St. Joseph’s College’s Mathew Cotreau (158), St.
Joseph’s College’s Francois Renaud (159), Bowdoin College’s Jeff Cutter (159),
St. Joseph’s College’s Chris Deroche (159), Southern Maine Community College’s
John Whiteman (159), and Husson College’s Kevin Byrne(160).
Thomas will next play in the University of Maine Farmington
Invitational, on Sunday, September 16, at Belgrade Lakes Golf Course.

lead After 1st Round of Maine Intercollegiate
Championship.
Waterville, September 14-- Husson and St.Joseph's
College lead after the 1st round of the Maine
Intercollegiate Championship, with a score of 316, at
Natanis Golf Course. The rest of the colleges included
in the tournament go into tomorrow's round as follows:
Bowdoin College (323), Bates College (326), University
of Maine at Farmington (331), University of Southern
Maine (333), Thomas College (347), Colby College (351),
New England College (358), University of Maine at
Presque Isle (379), and Southern Maine Community College

Husson College's Josh Gallagher came in second with a
score of 76. Coming in third in the round was Bowdoin
College's Ryan Blossom, with a 77.
The final round of the Maine
Intercollegiate Championship will be played tomorrow
September 15, at Natanis Golf Course.
St. Josephs College Wins Terrier Golf
Invitational

Waterville, September 11- St,
Josephs College won the Terrier Golf Invitational, with
a score of 307, Tuesday after noon at the Waterville
Country Club. St. Josephs won the invitational over
Husson College (312) and Bowdoin College (322), who
finished second and third. The other team that competed
included the University of Southern Maine (4th), Thomas
College (5th), University of Maine at Farmington (6th),
New England College (7th), Maine Maritime Academy (8th),
and University of Maine at Presque Isle (9th).
Bowdoin's Ryan Blossom won the
individual medal with a score of 71. Blossom beat out
St. Joseph's Mathew Contreau, who shot a 74. Some of the
other golfers that showed low scores included St.
Joseph's Chris Deroche, (75), Husson College's Kevin
Byrne (75), University of Southern Maine Ben Loss (76),
and Thomas College's Steve Falco (77).
Thomas College will next play at
the Maine Intercollegiate Golf Championship on Friday
and Saturday, September 14 and 15, at 10 a.m. at Natanis
Golf Course.
Thomas wins close one against UMaine-Fort Kent
Thomas 2, Fort Kent 1
Fort Kent, September 2, 2007- The Thomas Men’s Soccer Team
(2-0-0) beat the University of Maine at Fort Kent
(1-1-0) 2-0 at the University of Maine at Fort Kent.
Thomas came out and scored ten minutes into the first
half. Thomas Junior Tim Costa scored the goal that was
assisted by freshman Matt Mitchell. Fort Kent answered
right back with a goal of their own with eight minutes
left in the first half. Thomas came back in the second
half and took the lead for good when junior Tim Costa
scored his second goal of the game assisted by senior
Tyler Simpson.Thomas was able to keep the lead and win the game
through the strong defensive play of freshman Ryan Hamm
and senior Chris Vashon. Senior goal keeper Russell
Beckwith also kept Fort Kent off the score board by
making six saves in the game.
Thomas now has won their first two games of the season.
In looking at Thomas, who has not won a game before this
weekend in the past two seasons hope they build on this
success and show that they are far more improved this
season.
Thomas College will next play the University of
Southern Maine on Wednesday, September 5 at the
University of Southern Maine.
Although giving up a late first half goal the Terriers responded
with an early second half tally and then held on for the
victory to advance their record to 2-0-0.
Thomas wins first game in three years
Thomas 2, Presque Isle 0
Fort Kent, September 1- The Thomas College Men’s Soccer Team
won their first game in three seasons. Thomas College
(1-0-0) beat University of Maine at Presque Isle (0-1-0)
2-0 at the University of Maine at Fort Kent. Junior Tim
Costa led off the scoring for Thomas with a goal at
12:43 in the first half. The goal was assisted by
freshman by Robin Rojek. Thomas then scored an insurance
goal in the second half when freshman Cory Underwood
scored, assisted by sophomore Jim Grant.Thomas earned the shutout with great defensive play
from senior Tyler Simpson and Sophomore Tom Desjardins.
Goal keeper Russell Beckwith saw seven shots and made
two saves in getting the first shutout of the season.
Thomas earned their first win three years under new
coach Ed Thomas. Ed Thomas took over as head coach of
the men’s soccer team this season at Thomas College.
Coach Thomas hopes to continue the team’s success
through the up coming season.
Thomas College next plays University of Maine at Fort
Kent on Sunday, September 2 at the University at Fort
Kent.
