Thomas Wins One on Walk-off single, Loses Second One Late

WATERVILLE, ME April 26 – The Thomas College Baseball
(10-6,5-2 NAC) team played Husson College (10-14,4-1) today in a double
header. The Terriers honored seniors Mike Chamard and Brian Gardner.
Tom Desjardins (Fort Kent, ME) was the offensive leader
for the Terriers today. He went 3-4 with two RBI’s including the game
winning single in the bottom of the seventh. Mike Chamard (Livermore Falls,
Me) also drove in two runs.
Andrew Martin (Rochester, MA) went seven innings, giving
up six runs, walked two and struck out 10 batters in the first game.
For the Eagles Dennis Graham (Miramichi, NB CN)
drove in two runs. Logan York (Presque Isle, ME)
helped out with two hits and a run scored. Husson started out with a
run in the first three innings. Thomas took the lead in the bottom of the
third making the game 4-3. Husson scored three more runs over the next three
innings, but it was Thomas who came out on top with a 3 run bottom of the
seventh.
On the hill for the Hawks were Keith Nason (Glenburn, ME)
and Samuel Adolphsen (Union, ME). Nason went four innings struck out two,
walked four gave up 4 runs on four hits and three were earned. Adolphsen
pitched two and two-thirds of an inning, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits, walked
three and struck out two.
In the second game it was once again Husson who started
out with the lead early, scoring two runs in the second inning.
Then behind good pitching from Ryan Arsenault (Portland, ME), the
Eagles were able to come away with a 3-2 win.
The Terriers were lead by the offensive prowess of Nick
Cloutier (Topsham, ME). He went 2-3 with a run scored.
Desjardins also added to his offensive numbers with another RBI.
Payton Austin (Lisbon, ME) pitched a complete game for Thomas. Austin
struck out five and walked four.
Bill Shannon (Newburgh, ME) provided the offense for the
Eagles going 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Brian McGinley (Hermon, ME)
and Logan York (Presque Isle, ME) each drove in the a run. Ryan Arseneault
also pitched a complete game. Ryan struck out five and walked five.
The Terriers Next game will be on Sunday April, 27 at Elms
College for a double header. The first game starts at 12 pm.
