Thomas Outmatched by Castleton
Thomas 6, Castleton 17
Waterville, Me -- The Thomas
College Women's Lacrosse team (2-7, 1-6 NEWLA) lost a
tough game to Castleton State College (6-5, 4-1 NEWLA)
17-6, Sunday Afternoon, on the campus of Thomas College.
This was the final game of the season for the Terriers.
The Terriers offensive came alive
in the second half, scoring all six of their goals. Meg
Denby (Copiague, NY) was the leading scorer with three
goals on three shots, she also collected 5 groundballs.
Julia Nyitray (Farmingdale, ME) added two goals of her
own and Kayla Lessard (Somersworth, NH) rounded out the
scoring with one. Nyitray had a game high 10
groundballs.
The Spartans were led on offense by Nikki
Bouchard (Brentwood, NH) who had a
three goals on five shots, she dished out 3
assists and collected five groundballs. Another
contributor on offense was Katelyn Green (Westborough,
MA) who had three goals on four shots. Green and Melanie
Houston (Topsham, ME) led the team with seven
groundballs each.

Thomas Loses Close One to Becker

Waterville, Me -- The Thomas
College tennis team (1-3) lost a tough match today
against NAC foes Becker College by a score of 5-4.
Thomas collected single’s wins
from Jeremy Cliff, Corey Daige and Ben Kenney. For
Becker the Singles winners were Charles Heard, Chris
Parker and Snjezan Teleback.
In the Doubles matches Jeremy
Cliff and Shane Marques collected the lone win for
Thomas, while Becker took the other two sealing their
victory.
Thomas' next match will be on
Saturday, April 26 at Thomas for the NAC Championship.
Game start at 12:00 pm.
Thomas Wins Pivitol Conference
Game Against Daniel Webster

Waterville, Me -- The Thomas College Men's Lacrosse
team (7-4, 5-3 NAC) won a close match against Daniel Webster (0-5, 3-6 NAC)
today at Thomas College. Today Seniors Mike Ross, Gunner Siverly, Charlie
Buckingham and Chris Vashon were recognized for their four years of dedication
to the program.
The Terriers Mike Ross (York, Me)
kept his hot streak alive with five more goals today.
Ross has 15 over the past two games. Ross also collected
7 ground balls and dished out an assist. Kolby Peckham
(Gardiner ME) added to the goal total with four of his
own. Jeremy Parmley (South Berwick, ME) chipped in with
two more and PJ Strebel (Newport, NH) added another from
defense. Gunner Siverly (Waterville, ME) helped secure
the win with two assists.
For the Eagles Ryan Manning
(Newport, NH) led the
way in the loss with three goals. Colby (Hollis,
NH) Field chipped in with two goals of his own. Parker
Condit (Newton, NJ) led the way with seven groundballs

Thomas Offense Comes Alive
Against Lyndon State

Waterville, Me -- The Thomas
College Men's Lacrosse team (6-4, 5-3 NAC) ousted Lyndon
State College (6-5) 19-5.
The Terriers got a brilliant
offensive show from Mike Ross (York, ME) who scored 10
of the Terriers 19 goals. Ross also collected 4
groundballs and dished out one assist. Luke Collier
(Winslow, ME) added four of his own on five shots. Kolby
Peckham (Gardiner, ME) chipped in with two of his own
and Gunner Siverly (Waterville, ME) led the team with
two assists.
For the Hornets Craig Salvagno
(Trumbull, CT) led the way with 4 goals on eight shots.
Chris Mansour chipped in with the other goal, and also
collected a game-high six groundballs.
Thomas' next game will be at home
against Daniel Webster on Saturday April, 19 at 12 pm.

Thomas Loses a Tough
Non-Conference Game

Waterville, Me -- The Thomas
College Women's Lacrosse team (2-7, 1-6 NEWLA) lost a
tough game to St. Josephs College (4-5, 1-2 GNAC) 14-8,
Wednesday Afternoon, on the campus of Colby College.
The Terriers offensive was
started by the aggressive play of Julia Nyitray
(Farmingdale, ME). Nyitray scored three of her four
goals within the first four minutes of the game and then
added her fourth five minutes later. Kayla Lessard
(Somersworth, NH) helped on offense by putting in two
goals as well. Kiley Joliceor (Oakland, ME) and Karen
Demers (Sanford, ME) each chipped in with goals of their
own. Nyitray had a game-high seven ground balls.
The Monks were led on offense by
Alyssa Marchant (Wakefield, MA) who had a game-high six
goals on 11 shots and also dishing out 2 assists.
Another contributor on offense was Lauren Hagerman
(Scarborough, ME) who had four goals and one assist.
The Terriers will have their next
game on Sunday, April 19 at 1:00 against Castleton
State.

Thomas Beats Conference Foe

Waterville, Me -- The Thomas
College Men's Lacrosse team (5-4, 4-3 NAC) won a close
match against St. Josephs College (0-7, 0-7 NAC) today
on the campus of St. Josephs College.
The Terriers Kolby Peckham
(Gardiner, Me) scored a hat-trick tonight who and
collected one groundball. Luke Collier (Sidney, Me)
chipped in with two goals for Thomas. Five other
Terriers had one goal a piece. Mike Ross (York, ME) had
a team high six groundballs. Gunner Siverly (Waterville,
ME) helped secure the win with two assists.
For the Monks it
was Tokunbo Amosun (Gardiner, ME) with three goals of
his own. Four other monks chipped in with the rest of
the offense. Luke Lafreniere (Alton, NH) had a game high
seven groundballs. Tyler Arsenault (Kennebunk, ME) had
two assists.
Thomas' next game will be at home
against Lyndon State on Thursday April, 17 at 7 pm.
Thomas Extends Win Streak to
Two

Waterville, Me -- The Thomas
College Women's Lacrosse team (2-6, 1-6 NEWLA) won their
second consecutive game against Pine Manor College (0-8,
0-8 NEWLA) 8-5,
Tuesday, under the lights on the campus of Colby
College.
The Terriers offensive was
generated by the return of Karen Demers (Sanford, ME)
and Julia Nyitray (Farmingdale, ME) both had three
goals. Nyitray scored her three goals on three shots and
Demers scored her three on five shots. Also contributing
was Meg Denby (Copiague, NY) she had two goals and an
assist. Denby
also had a game high seven groundballs.
The Gators were led on offense by
Elaine Rodriguez (Bronx, NY) who scored three goals on
six shots. Other contributors were Stephanie Ludwig
(Henniker, NH) and Jacqueline Sprague (Oxford, MA) with
a goal a piece.
The Terriers will have their next
game on Wednesday, April 16 at 4:00 against St. Joes and
it will be held at Colby College.

Thomas Holds on to Win First
Game of Year

Waterville, Me -- The Thomas
College Women's Lacrosse team (1-6, 0-6 NEWLA) won their
first game of the year against Green Mountain College
10-9, Sunday, at Bowdoin College.
The Terriers were led on offense
by Meg Denby (Copiague, NY) who had six goals on seven
shots while also collecting nine groundballs. Kayla
Lessard (Somersworth, NH) put in two goals six
groundballs of her own. Jess Nassetta (Standish, ME)
Caylah Cohen (Cherry Hill, NJ) both chipped in on
offense with a goal each. Cohen’s goal was the first one
in her collegiate career.
The Eagles were led on offense by
Amanda Jeffers (Homer, NY) and Monique Couture (Santa
Barbara, CA) who both scored three goals. Couture led
her team with eight groundballs. Jeffers chipped in with
six groundballs as well.
The Terriers will have their next
game on Wednesday, April 16 at 4:00 against St. Joes and
it will be held at Colby College.

Thomas Plays Well but Loses to
Castleton

Waterville, Me -- The Thomas
College Men's Lacrosse team (4-4, 3-3 NAC) lost a close
match against Castleton State College (5-1, 7-4 NAC)
today on the campus of Colby College 8-11.
The Terriers were lead on offense
by Kolby Peckham (Gardiner, Me) who scored a game-high
four goals and collected four groundballs. Jeremy
Parmley (South Berwick, Me) also contributed on offense
with two goals on four shots collecting seven
groundballs. Mike Ross (York, ME) and Luke Collier
(Sidney, Me) chipped in with a goal each for Thomas.
Ross also had a game-high 15 groundballs, while also
adding four assists.
Leading the way for the Spartans
were Michael DelDotto (Reading, Ma) and Phil Barry
(Randolph, Vt) each putting in two goals on five shots.
Jack Rick (Rochester, NY) led the team with nine
groundballs. Barry also lead the team with 3 assists

Thomas Outmatched by Worcester State

Waterville, Me -- The Thomas
College Women's Lacrosse team (0-6, 0-6 NEWLA) were
defeated, 23 - 2, by Worcester State College (6-2, 4-1
NEWLA), Tuesday, at Colby College.
The Terriers were led on offense
by Meg Denby (Copiague, NY) who scored the two lone
goals and a game high 10 groundballs. Denby shot 66% in
today’s game. Kayla Lessard (Somersworth, NH) had six
groundballs of her own.
The Lancers were led on offense
by Shannon Feeley (West Springfield, MA) she scored
three goals and on three shots and also had an assists.
Eight other Lancers had at least two goals on the way to
their win. Abby Cosenza (Shrewsbury, MA) had a game high
4 assists.
The Terriers will have their next
game on Sunday, April 1 at 10:00 against Green Mountain
College and it will be held at Bowdoin College.

Southern Maine Downs Thomas

Gorham, Maine -- Junior Derek
Stevenson (Raymond, Maine/Windham) and sophomore Josh
Warren (Hermon, Maine) spearheaded a dominating team
performance to lead the University of Southern Maine
Huskies men's tennis team to a 9-0 sweep of the Thomas
College Terriers in a non-conference match Thursday
afternoon at the Costello Sports Complex in Gorham.
The win is the second
straight for Southern Maine which improves its overall
record to 3-4. Thomas drops to 2-4 with the loss.
Co-captains Stevenson and
Warren proved to be powerful tandem in doubles and then
claimed victories in their singles competition as the
Huskies claimed all nine of the available points from
the Terriers in the match. Stevenson and Warren
defeated the Terrier team of freshman Jeremy Cliff (Hermon,
Maine) and senior Shane Marques (Taunton, Mass.) 8-1 in
first doubles. Warren went on to claim a convincing
6-0, 6-2 win over Cliff at first singles, while
Stevenson downed Marques 6-2, 6-1 at second singles.
The Huskies overpowered the
Terriers giving up only 13 games
throughout the match. Competing at sixth singles,
Southern Maine
sophomore Stefan Kelly (Biddeford, Maine) claimed a 6-0,
6-0 win over Thomas freshman Andrew Folan (Windham,
Conn.), while freshman Adam Mitchell (Windham, Maine)
churned out a 6-0, 6-1 win over Terrier senior Ben
Kenney (Unity, Maine) at fifth singles.
Thomas will next play on Saturday
April 12 at Johnson State at 2 pm.

Thomas Loses One Late to
Becker

Waterville, Maine -- The Thomas
College Women's Lacrosse team (0-5, 0-5 NEWLA) were
defeated, 14-13, by Becker College (1-4, 1-2 NEWLA),
Tuesday, at Colby College.
The Terriers were led on offense
today by Kiley Jolicoer (Winslow, ME). Jolicoer lead the
Terriers with four goals on six shots. Kayla Lessard
(Somersworth, NH) and Meg Denby (Copaigue, NY) added an
additional three to the total. Julia Nyitray
(Farmingdale, ME) led the Terriers with 16 groundballs,
Denby collected nine of her own and both Lessard and
Jolicoer picked up eight each. Ashley French (Rindge,
NH) had 12 saves in net today for the Terriers.
The Hawks were led on offense by
Tammy Mullen (Pottstown, PA) she scored eight of
Becker's 14 goals and she had 10 shots.
Mullen also led the Hawks in groundballs; she
collected 17 of them. Nicole Kosinski (Westport, CT) and
Karrol Leon (Quincy, MA) chipped in with two goals of
their own. Allison Thompson (Barre, VT) also chipped in
on offense; she had a game high two assists.
The Terriers will have their next
game on Saturday, April 12 at 2:30 against Worchester
State and it will be held at Colby College.

Elms College Tops Thomas

CHICOPEE, MA, March 29, 2008 --
Elms College senior midfielder Caitlin Childs
(Hingham, MA) and senior center Lauren O'Donnell
(Hampden, MA) poured in seven goals apiece to help
the Blazers cruise to a convincing 19-5 win over Thomas
College in Saturday afternoon's New England Women's
Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) game at Leary Field.
With the win, Elms
College
improved to 2-2 overall, 1-1 NEWLA. Thomas fell to 0-2,
0-2 NEWLA.
Childs scored three of her goals in
the opening 10:50 as the Blazers raced out to a quick
6-0 lead.
Freshman defenders
Nicole Foss (Addison,
ME) and Kayla Lessard (Somersworth,
NH) connected for their first
goals of the season just 32 seconds apart midway through
the first half to cut the Terriers’ deficit to 6-2.
Childs and senior
attack Carrie Allard (Springfield, MA) combined to score five of the game’s
next six goals over the final 8:44 of the first half to
stake the Blazers to a commanding 11-3 lead at
intermission.
From there, O'Donnell
erupted for six of her goals in the second half to help
the Blazers pull away.
Senior defender Raemarie
Josefiak (Springfield,
MA) added two goals and two assists and
junior goalkeeper Alicia Bobbie (Higganum, CT)
stopped six shots for the Blazers in the winning
effort.
Junior goalkeeper Ashley French
(Rindge, NH) turned aside 12 shots for the
Terriers in the loss.
Thomas will next play
Westfield State on Sunday March 30 at 12:00 pm.

Thomas Loses Tough One to NAC

Waterville, Me -- The Thomas
College Mens Lacrosse team (0-2, 0-3 NAC) lost a close
match against Maine Maritime (2-0, 2-1 NAC) today at
Colby College 10-11.
The Terriers were lead on offense by Mike Ross
(York, Me) who scored seven goals on 12 shots and
collected 13 groundballs.
Kolby Peckham (Gardiner, Me) also contributed on
offense with two goals, two assists while collecting
seven groundballs. Jeremy Parmley (South Berwick, Me)
chipped in with another goal for Thomas.
Wade Mondoux (Berwick, Me) and
Chris Keiley (Holliston, Ma) lead the way for the
Mariners on offense today. They both contributed to the
win with three goals on six shots and five groundballs
each.
Thomas' next game will be at Becker College on
Saturday March, 29 at 2:30 pm

Thomas Men's Lacrosse loses to
Mount Ida

- The Mount Ida College Men's Lacrosse team would
host their first home game of the season and their first
North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match up against Thomas
College today in Newton, MA notching a 19-4 victory.
MIC would better their overall record to 2-3, 1-0
in the NAC, while the Terriers drop to 0-2, 0-1 in
league play.
The Mustangs would come
out the gates early and often with junior attackman
Brett Conley
(Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) tallying the first
three goals of the contest giving the hosts the 3-0 lead
with 2:43 remaining the first quarter.
Junior
Leo Shidler (Peabody, MA/Peabody) would tandem with Conley on
two of his goals with the assists.
The hosts would
continue to dominate the competition firing in three
more goals before the first quarter horn blew with
freshmen Eric
Gilston (Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury) and
Nate Prince
(West Gardiner, ME/Gardiner Area) notching their
first goals of the season making it 5-0 in favor of the
Mustangs; Shidler would gain another assist.
Eventually, MIC would tally one more with four
seconds remaining in the first verse on an unassisted
goal by sophomore
John Perez (Dorcester, MA/Wayland) going into the second quarter
leading 6-0.
The offense would
continue for Mount Ida in the second with a firing squad of freshman
pounding the net helping stretch their advantage to 10-0
off four goals.
Freshman attack standout
Matt Savage (Peabody, MA/Peabody) notched his first two goals of
his career within three minutes of each other.
Gilston would also net his second, while freshman
Paul Battapaglia
(Clinton, CT/Morgan) also tallied his first of the
season.
Finally, the Terriers
would get on the board with 2:02
remaining before the midway break off a goal by junior
Mike Ross (York, ME/York).
The Mustangs were not done before the half, with
two quick hitter goals by freshman
Derek Broughton
(Peabody, MA/Peabody), also the first of his career,
making the score 12-1.
The visitors would add one more with 1:20
showing on the clock right before the horn with
sophomore Kolby Peckham (West Gardiner, ME/Gardiner
Area) netting goal two for TC with the score at 12-2
heading into halftime.
With the Mustangs
leading by 10 goals, it was pretty much out of reach for
the Terriers.
Thomas could only tally two more before the final
whistle, while
Mount Ida continued to pound away at the
offense.
Prince, Battapaglia, and Conley would all notch another
goal for MIC with freshman
Travis Roache
(Hyde Park, MA/MATCH),
Anthony
DiMarsico (Fairport, NY/Fairport), and
Adam Stamatakos
(Barrington, RI/Barrington) all netting their first
goals as Mustangs.
Leo Shidler would cap things off with his only
goal of the contest off a sweet pass from freshman
Michael Haseotes
(Duxbury, MA/HYDE School).
When it was all said and done, Mount Ida would walk away
with not only a 19-4
conference victory, but a sign for things to come
in the future with some incredible performances by many
of the young players.

Thomas Women's Lacrosse routed by
Bridgewater

In New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) action,
the Bridgewater State College Bears breezed to a 25-0
victory over Thomas College this afternoon from Swenson Field in Bridgewater. The game was
the conference opener as well as the home opener for the
Bears who returned to the NEWLA after a three-year
hiatus.
Bridgewater, who improved to 2-1 on the
season and 1-0 in league play, recorded 19 assists in
the game to break the single-game school mark of 18
assists set last season versus
Westfield
State.
The 19 assists is also the third highest
single-game total in Division III history.
Shenandoah University holds the Division III record with 21
assists against Averett University in 2004.
Fifteen different
players scored at least one goal for Bridgewater State, who led 16-0 at the half, including
five who tallied their first collegiate goals.
Freshman attack
Patricia Maloney
(Walpole,
MA) paced the Bears with three
goals and four assists for a seven-point performance.
BSC sophomore scoring leader
Shannon Manning
(Framingham, MA) notched three goals to go along with three
assists, five groundballs, four draw controls and three
caused turnovers.
Manning has 11 goals and seven assists in three
games this season.
Senior midfielder
Alison Gugliotta
(Norwood, MA) added two goals, two assists, five ground
balls and two caused turnovers.
First-time scorers for the Bears were
freshmen Caitlin
Young (Holden, MA),
Erin Quimby
(Chelmsford, MA) and Kiley
Brown (Ashby, MA), and sophomores
Chelsea Bracchi
(Pembroke, MA) and
Kelly Downs
(Hanover, MA).
Young, Bracchi and Downs
tallied two goals apiece, while Quimby and Brown added
one each. Bracchi also added four ground balls and three
draw controls.
BSC forced 19 turnovers
in the game and limited Thomas to just three shots.
The Bears outshot the Terriers by a margin of
41-3 shot, and held a 23-4 advantage in draw controls.
Freshman netminder
Katie Weber
(Arlington, MA), making her first appearance of the
season, turned aside two shots to earn her first
collegiate win. Senior defender
Heather Anza
(Weston, MA) player a great all-around game as she
tallied three ground balls and a draw control, forced a
turnover, and notched a pair of assists.
Junior goaltender
Ashley French
(Rindge, NH) made eight saves between the pipes for
Thomas.
Thomas' next game is home on March
27 at 4:00 against
Pine Manor.

Thomas' Jeremy Cliff Awarded NAC
Honors
Named Player of the Week
Waterville, Me -- Thomas College's
#1 Singles and #1 Doubles Tennis player, Jeremy Cliff (Hermon,
Maine) was named the North Atlantic Conference Player of
the Week for Men's Tennis.
Jeremy Cliff is a graduate of
Hermon High School and a First Year student-athlete at
Thomas College. He went undefeated this past weekend
against Castleton College and Wheelock College.
Cliff posted winning scores of: 6-0, 6-0 and 8-0 in his
singles and doubles match respectively. Jeremy
repeated his efforts on Sunday posting identical scores.
On March 8th, Jeremy's competed in
his first NCAA Division III match against Gordon
College. Jeremy won both of his matches and is 6-0
overall this season and has not lost a single game.

Thomas Wins First Match of Season
in Style

Waterville, ME -- The Thomas College
tennis team (1-2) won their first match of the season
against Wheelock College by a score of 9-0.
Thomas collected single's wins from Jeremy Cliff,
Shane Marques, Dave Campbell, Cory Daige, Ben Kenney and
Andrew Folan.
Wheelock was not able to answer
Thomas's strengths in the doubles matches either losing
all three of them as well.
Thomas' next match will be on
Saturday, March 22, and will host Lyndon State at 2:00
pm.

Thomas Struggles in Tough Match VS

Waterville, Maine -- The Thomas
College tennis team (0-2) fell in their second match of
the season to a tough Castleton State tennis team (2-0)
with a final score of
8-1.
Thomas' lone victory in today's
competition was provided by first-year player Jeremy
Cliff (Hermon, Me). Cliff defeated Castleton's Dan
Hodgetts.
Castleton State had single's victories by Jesse
Maranda, Ted Panasci, Justin Garritt, Jeremy Henderson,
and Jamie Cool.
In the double's competition Castleton was very
competitive and came away with a sweep of all three
matches.
Thomas' next match will be on Sunday, March 16, and will
host Wheelock at 1:00 pm.

Thomas Tennis Falters in Opening
Match

Waterville, Maine --
The Thomas College
tennis team (0-1) fell in their season opening match on
Saturday afternoon to Gordon College by the score of 7-2
at the Harold Alfond Athletic Center at Thomas.
Thomas' lone victory in the single's competition was
provided by first-year player Jeremy Cliff. Cliff
defeated Gordon's Blake Larson.
Gordon
had single's victories by Greg Zini, Andrew Vanrheenen,
Dan Cormier, Carl Quinion, and Scott Pichard.
In the
double's competition, Thomas took one of the three games
from Gordon when Cliff and Shane Marques teamed up to
beat Zini and Larson. Thomas lost the other two double's
games.
Thomas' next match will be on Saturday, March 15, and
will host Castleton State at 1:00 pm.

Nor'easters open
season by rolling over Thomas

Portland, Maine -- Dan Leyden '09
(Northfield, Mass.) and Luke DiFiore '11 (Gloucester,
Mass.) each scored four goals as the University of New
England Nor'easters opened their season with a 19-4 win
over Thomas College in a non-conference men's lacrosse
match played in a steady rain at Fitzpatrick Stadium.
The Nor'easters would struggle in
the first period, failing to mount much of an attack
despite owning a decided advantage in time of
possession. Both teams would go scoreless in the
first frame.
The Terriers opened the scoring
with 34 seconds gone in the second when Kolby Peckham
'10 (West Gardiner, Maine) tallied an unassisted goal.
UNE would answer by scoring the
final four goals of the quarter. DiFiore drew the
Nor'easters even, then Leyden put home consecutive
scores to give the Nor'easters a 3-1 lead. Mike
Sagaert '10 (Colorado Springs, Colo.) would then make
the score 4-1 with 1:23 to play before intermission.
UNE put the match away with seven
unanswered goals in the third. DiFiore scored
three times, including his second man-up goal of the
match.
The Nor'easters would continue to
pour it on in the fourth, scoring eight more times.
All told, UNE notched 17 unanswered goals from the
second period to midway through the fourth. Leyden added
four assists to his four-goal output for a

(New Sharon, Maine) stopped 13 shots. UNE held a wide
margin in both shots (59-20) and ground balls (57-33).
The Nor'easters (1-0) are idle until their trip to
