How to scan a slide or photo negative into a picture
* Before you start, make sure that the scanner is turned
on. If the light on the front of the scanner is lit (green), then the scanner
is on. If the scanner is not turned on then turn it by pressing the On / Off
button on the front right corner of the scanner, then restart the computer.
For the scanner to work, the scanner must be on before the computer is on.
- Logon on to the computer
- Click the Start menu, then click programs, Microsoft
Office tools, Microsoft Office Editor.
- There is an attachment to the scanner itself, is a device
called a lid light. This is the device you will use to scan the slide or
photo negatives
- There are two ways to place the slide or negative on the
lid light. First, if you have a strip of slides or negatives, you can
place the strip on the horizontal lighted are. Or, if you have a single
slide or photographic negative you can place it on the square lit area.
- Once you have placed the slide or negative on the lid
light, place the lid light, lit side down on the scanner. When the lid
light is fit perfectly straight on the scanner, it will lock in position.
It does not matter where you put the lid light on the scanner.
- Now click on the scan icon on the toolbar.
- You can crop and edit your scan just like you can a
regular picture scan.
- When done, save the scan as a .JPEG file.
- Below is a sample slide scanned using the method above.
