Thomas College seeks an organized, innovative professional to serve as EDGE Coordinator/Academic Coach. The successful candidate will plan, administer and assess Thomas College’s successful EDGE (Engage, Develop, Guide and Empower) program, a key retention initiative focusing on first year students. Primary responsibilities include recruiting and communicating with potential student participants, coordinating with EDGE instructors for class scheduling, planning out-of-class workshops and activities for EDGE students, selecting, training and supervising EDGE peer tutors, and supervising the delivery of all program elements. The EDGE Coordinator/Academic Coach serves as the chief academic coach for EDGE students and other identified throughout the academic year. The EDGE Coordinator/Academic Coach also coordinates other early college intensive efforts in coordination with other campus units and high school partners. The EDGE Coordinator/Academic Coach functions as a member of the Student Success team, represents Student Success in the larger campus community, and collaborates closely with other campus units.
Experience with academic advising, mentoring, counseling or other significant experience with academically at-risk students is required. A working knowledge of issues facing students in transition, especially first year students, and of intervention and success coaching strategies is also required. Strong organizational and communication skills required. Maine driver’s license, or ability to obtain, with a clean driving record required. Bachelor’s degree required.
