CAREER SERVICES CONTESTS!!
November - sponsored by Mr. Paperback,
Elm Plaza in Waterville
You have just one chance to make a first impression...and you want it to be a good one! In 30 words or less, how would you describe yourself to the person who can make or break your future?!
Why do this? Consider the story of my friend Rob, a senior in a local college who in the past couple of years has had some amazing chance encounters. Last winter he ended up sitting next to legendary coach Don Shula at the Atlanta airport bar (actually until they spoke he didn't know who it was, just that the guy had on a superbowl ring!). Another time he met the entire Atlanta Braves baseball team in a hotel in Montreal! Now Rob aspires to be a stock broker, not the marketing director for a pro sports team, but what if...
Having your 30 word spiel ready could come in handy at career fairs, all those holiday parties, and definitely in the first moments of a job interview.
Another good reason to do this is to win $10 worth of Paperback Bucks! Submit your entries to Career Services on or before November 22. Voting will take place from November 25-26, with the winner announced December 2.
Rules:
Must be within the bounds of good taste (would you want your grandmother to read this – and know you wrote it?).
Please e-mail your entry to Career Services on or before Nov. 15!
