The Central Maine Growth Council is looking to fill the permanent, part-time position of Development Project Assistant.  This is a highly responsible position working with the organization’s Executive Director.  Work requires considerable initiative and independent judgment in coordinating administrative activities, project activities and financial bookkeeping using accounting software. Strong interpersonal skills are required as well as high proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, and Quick Books).  Work assignments are completed with little supervision, and performance is evaluated on the basis of accuracy, timeliness and results achieved.   The position is for 25-30 hours per week and salary commensurate with experience.

 

Minimum requirement of an Associates Degree or 3 years of clerical experience of a progressively responsible nature.  Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered at the discre­tion of the Central Maine Growth Council.

 

A suitable candidate must have: the ability to work efficiently and independently; knowledge of the principles and practices of modern office technology and management; ability to handle special projects and research assignments; ability to independently carry out assignments requiring the organization and maintenance of data and the presentation of assembled material; excellent telephone skills and public relations; considerable knowledge of business English, spelling, filing and grammar, and posses­sion of good vocabulary to effectively communicate orally and in writing; knowledge of, and advanced experience with, the aforementioned computer software as applied to office applications for word processing, spreadsheet and database software; ability to prioritize tasks and duties, and be well organized in all aspects; ability to deal with the public independently, courteously and tactfully, and to convey with a great deal of discretion and judgment, concise and accurate explanations.
