Thomas College Internship Requirements

• Junior or Senior Class status (minimum of 60 credits completed) or two-year Senior Class status (minimum of 30 credits completed)
   
• Good academic standing (2.0 GPA required and 3.0 recommended for 12-credit internship)
   
• Availability of professional or general elective(s) (not liberal arts electives) that can be replaced by the internship (3-, 6-, 9-, or 12-credit internship)
   
• Total semester credits not to exceed 18 credit hours, unless student is willing to pay additional tuition for extra credits
   
• Required internship seminar at 8 a.m. every Tuesday during the fall/spring semester (unless completing a 12-credit internship during the spring semester of one's senior year)
   
• Completion of weekly, two-page double-spaced, typed journal including three categories:

             (1) Tasks/Activities/Duties performed that week
             (2) Skills/Information learned that week
             (3) Problems encountered and how they were solved that week

• Submission of journal every Tuesday with name; days, dates, and hours worked; and total hours worked that week placed in the left-hand corner
   

• Submission of a highlighted, current Internet article related to assigned, weekly topic during the fall/spring semester
   

• Submission of research paper(s) for 6-credit internship (one paper), 9-credit internship (two papers), and 12-credit internship (three papers) every five weeks during the fall/spring semester
   

• Completion of a 15-week internship (minimum of 12 weeks with advanced permission and under special circumstances such as a 12-week State Department internship) with the minimum of 150 hours for a 3-credit internship (10 hours a week), 300 hours for a 6-credit internship (20 hours a week), 450 hours for a 9-credit internship (30 hours a week), and 600 hours for a 12-credit internship (40 hours a week)
