Career Services Update - week of January 22, 2007!

* Mark Your Calendar – Wednesday January 31 is the date for UMO’s Career Fair.  The event runs from 10:00am until 3:00pm and will feature over 100 employers.  All Thomas students are welcome to attend.  Check out this link for more details.

Speaking of career fairs, the Thomas Career Fair is March 14th.  I’ll have more details as we get closer to it – consider a trip to Orono as a practice run for our fair.  If you have any questions about job hunting please contact the Career Services Office.

* Job Hunting Tips – Do pretty people earn more money?  Some studies suggest “attractive” people can earn 5% more for the same job.  Goods looks are never a proper substitute for hard work, talent and drive (Quasimodo was always gainfully employed….).  Read this article from MSN’s Career Builder page and please make note of the last two paragraphs where it is written (on whatever it is they right it on down there) that confidence makes up 20% of perceived attractiveness.

* New Job Openings –  Offerings this week include the Lewiston Housing Authority’s posting of an Assistant Controller, The Learning Center in South China is looking for a PT Lead Teacher and our very own Communications Department is offering a Sales and Communications Internship – and you can get credit for it this term!

Have a great week!
