Career Services Update - week of February 28, 2005!

* Mark your calendar –   As of this moment 31 recruiters are scheduled to take part in our annual Career Fair on March 16th.  It’s important you prepare for this by making sure you’re dressed appropriately and you have a good looking resume in hand.  I can help you with the resume part.  Email your resume to me and I’ll be happy to give it the once over.  Check out this link for the list of companies attending and links to their respective websites.

UMaine Farmington is having their annual Education Job Fair on Monday April 25th.  Thomas students are welcome to attend.  You’ll find more information at this link and you are encouraged to register with UMF here.

* Job Hunting Tips – Does the early bird get the worm?  Well, not if the worm sleeps in, but more often than not their bellies are full.  Job hunting works the same way.  The folks who are prepared and active early on see their efforts pay off.  At this time of year there’s no shortage of things that compete for your attention – if you want/need employment in May you need to start looking for work.  Please let me know if you’d like some assistance.

* Resume Tips – The MSN.com website has a great career page.  It has sections that are very handy when getting ready to look for work or preparing for that interview.  There is a great article on resumes as well (thanks to Prof. Giorgetti for the link).

* New Jobs –  Among the offerings are these tidbits: a Junior Accountant position at NRF Distributors and an Admin Assistant position at Day’s Jewelers (it’s an assistant to the Website Manager – but is not an IT focused position).   If you’re interested in an IT position south of the border check out Liberty Mutual’s IS Technical Development Program in New Hampshire.

Have a great week!
