Career Services
Update - week of March 27, 2006!
* Congratulations
New Hire! – Derek
Dumont has secured a Cost Analyst position with Bath
Iron Works. Derek was one of the
first students to ask for my help in finding part-time work over 2 years ago
when I started here at Thomas. Now he’s
leaving. I will need to type fast as my
tears may well up and foul the keyboard…….
* Career Fair
(post-race teardown edition) – The Career Fair on the 15th went very well from all
accounts. The recruiters were much more
impressed with the way students presented themselves this year as opposed to
last (nice job!). Some of you also asked
about internships – this was great because when employers hear it from you they
listen. I heard from several
representatives who will now consider taking on interns in the future.
Keep
in mind these folks are still looking to hire students. You can check the final list of attendees by clicking here. I also have contact information for all of
the recruiters in my office if you’d like to have it.
* Mark Your
Calendar – The
Maine Recruiting Consortium is sponsoring the Maine Tourism & Hospitality
Fair. The fair will focus on summer
jobs, is open to all college students and will be held Friday April 7th from 1:00 –
4:00pm at the Augusta Civic Center. You
are encouraged to pre-register
online prior to the event.
Enterprise
Rent-a-Car will be interviewing on campus on Tuesday April 4th. To be considered for an interview you must
first apply online at their
website by April 1st.
* New Job Openings
– A Partner in Technology in Gardiner is
looking for an Information
Systems Consultant. The State of
Maine is looking for an Auditor I. Ron Beaulieu and Co in Portland is looking
for an entry level
Accountant and a marketing
assistant.
