Update - week of April 4, 2005!
* Congratulations
New Hire! – Darcy
Thomas has secured a Sales Assistant position at the Employment Times. Darcy worked there last summer (ahhh, the power
of the internship….) so she was in a great position when this spot opened up
and will start after graduation in May.
* Shake Hands with
the Governor – Maine
Student Employment week runs Monday April 11th through Friday April
15th. It’s a chance to acknowledge
the dedication and hard work of students who are employed while attending
classes. Governor Baldacci
has agreed once again to meet with students from Thomas and sign a proclamation
celebrating this week. The event is
scheduled for Tuesday April 12th at 10:30am. Here’s where you come in….
If
you’d like to meet the Governor, email
me indicating your interest. Please
include a paragraph on why you should be selected (you need to be working in a
job or internship to qualify). Two
students will join me at the capitol and meet the Governor, then we’ll have
lunch. The deadline to apply is Friday
April 8th at noon.
* Career Fair
Recap – One last piece of housekeeping – the awarding
of the Thomas sweatshirt from the bookstore.
Jenna Marstaller filled out the student survey and is our winner. Jenna – please come to the Career Services office
for your prize.
UMaine
Farmington is having their annual Education Job Fair on Monday April 25th. Thomas students are welcome to attend. You’ll find more information at this link and you
are encouraged to register with UMF here.
* Job Hunting Tips
– The Maine.info website has links to all sorts of
information about the state. Of note
here is the Maine Jobs section. This features links to all types of employers
which are broken down into 10 distinct categories.
* New Job Openings
– There have
been some additions to the jobs posting website while you were at break
including a Tech
Support position at Hanover Computer in Waterville, and an Auditor I position with
Maine DHHS. Other listings can be
found here.
Have a great week!
