Career Services Update - week of April 11, 2005!

* Congratulations New Hire! – Mladen Varagic has secured a Management Trainee Internship with Enterprise Rent-A-Car for the summer.

* Shake Hands with the Governor – Maine Student Employment week wraps up tomorrow with happy memories for 2 Thomas students who met with Governor John Baldacci on Tuesday.  James Cote is a political science major who works at Putnam Investments on campus.  Wes Pooler is a grad student in our MBA program who works as a Cost Engineer at Cianbro.  Both had an opportunity to tell the Governor about the importance of student employment while the Channel 5 TV cameras were rolling – and they did a great job!

* Career Fair –   UMaine Farmington is having their annual Education Job Fair on Monday April 25th.  Thomas students are welcome to attend.  You’ll find more information at this link and you are encouraged to register with UMF here.

Colby College is hosting a U.S. State Department Jobs Info Session on Thursday April 21 at 7:00pm.  Please click here for more information.

* Internships – Time Warner Cable has posted a listing of internship opportunities on the jobsinme website.  The positions, linked here, include Accounts Receivable, Sales and IT.  The deadline to apply is May 1.  There are openings in Portland and Presque Isle.

* Job Hunting Tips – Speaking of the internet, I wanted to let you know about a new job website, Indeed.com.  Indeed searches job posting, newspaper and association websites for jobs (jobs are not posted directly on Indeed’s site).  So if it’s on Monster, Careerbuilder, Flipdog or a corporate site there’s a chance it will be on Indeed.com.

Have a great week!
