Career Services Update - week of April 25, 2005!

* Last Issue – Yes, this is it for the year.  As I’m getting kind of emotional I will type quickly so the tears don’t well up and short out the keyboard….

* Congratulations New Hire! – Jim Metivier landed a position as a Network Engineer at Gary Bouchard Programming in Augusta.  Jim will start the Monday after graduation.

* Mark Your Calendar    Representatives from the Maine Municipal Association will be on campus this Thursday April 28th outside the Dining Center from 11:30am until 1:00pm.  MMA is looking for Worker’s Compensation and Property and Casualty Claims Representatives.  These are not jobs for the squeamish – but would be a good opportunity for the right person.  The links above go to the jobsinme.com site, where there is more information.

* Senior Survey –   If you’re a day student graduating this May please fill out a Senior Survey.  You can stop by the Career Services office to pick one up or I can email you one if you email me first. The survey is used for our Job Placement report and it gives you an opportunity to let me know if you’d like any help with your job search if you haven’t found work.

* Job Hunting Tips – Dr. Libby’s Internship Seminar presentations wrapped up today. They were very well received and were attended by faculty, staff, employers and parents over the past four Tuesdays.  At the conclusion of each segment students needed to show off their e-portfolios (something I have more than a passing interest in….)  If you are doing a summer internship for credit you’ll need an e-portfolio too.  You can click here for more information about how to create one.  Portfolios are also a useful job hunting tool as this article from Quintessential Careers indicates.

* New Job Openings – Please click here for the latest job and internship openings.

Have a great summer!  Career Services is open year round – please don’t hesitate to contact our office.
