Final Brown Bag of the year!
Next week on April 17 from 12:15 - 1:15, join us in the Stickney Room (** change of location!**) for a presentation entitled "On your Own."  Sarah Robinson, Specialist with the Jobs for Maine's Graduates Program at Waterville High School is a recent grad who has moved across country twice for jobs, and in the process has learned a lot about moving, renting, buying cars, negotiating insurance, stress and much more.  Grab lunch in the cafeteria or bring a lunch from home and join us for this informative talk!

April 13-19 is National Student Employment Week. This annual event recognizes the importance of student workers throughout the country, and on Friday, Gov. Baldacci will sign a proclamation recognizing this week in Maine as well. Attending the signing will be Katrina Merrifield and Robert Worden, Thomas students interning at MacDonald, Page, Schatz, Fletcher and Company in Augusta.  Next week look in the Administration building lobby and on the Career Services website for a display featuring some of the 80% of Thomas students who work while attending school.  Other events scheduled during the week are the annual Etiquette Dinner for seniors on Tuesday the 15th and the final Brown Bag luncheon on the year on the 17th

Which Fork Do I Use?!!
Seniors getting ready to head into the world might need to refresh their memories about the basic rules of table etiquette for business-related meals. Corporate recruiters report that sometimes the deciding factor between two candidates is good manners - or the lack of them! Proper etiquette might also help or hurt the impression made on a client once you've landed the job.  Don't worry - Career Services and Sodexho are here to help! A special Etiquette Dinner just for seniors is planned for Tuesday, April 15 in the Student Center. The incredible five course meal will include instruction, helpful tips and delightful conversation!  Seniors should check their mailboxes for invitations, and RSVP by Friday the 11th.

* Scholarship Reminder! - Students that are submitting applications for scholarships through the Alumni office, please remember that the deadline is this Friday, April 11.

* Contest News -

* Weekly humor -

The taxi passenger

A taxi passenger tapped the driver on the shoulder to ask him a question.  The driver screamed, lost control of the car, nearly hit a bus, went up on the footpath, and stopped just inches from a shop window.

For a second everything went quiet in the cab, then the driver said, "Look Mac, don't ever do that again.  You scared the daylights out of me!"

The passenger apologized and said he didn't realize that a little tap could scare him so much.

The driver replied, "Sorry, it's not really your fault.  Today is my first day as a cab driver...  I've been driving hearses for the last 25 years!"

Have a great week!
