Career Services
Update - week of September 12, 2005!
* Congratulations
New Hire! – James
Godley interned at Target
in Bangor this summer and has parlayed that into a full time job in loss
prevention when he graduates. So what
have we learned? Yes, if you plan to do
any shoplifting you’re going to run into James.
But more importantly is this:
Even if you don’t get a job with your internship employer you will gain
valuable experience that will translate well to other jobs. Way to go James!
* Mark Your
Calendar – The Career Services office is in the process of
coordinating on-campus visits for the fall.
Here is what we have so far:
This
Tuesday (today or tomorrow – depending on when you read this). A representative from Mass Connections will be in
front of the Dining Center from 8:00am until 9:30am. Mass Connections employees conduct product
demonstrations at large retailers all over the country (the Mass is quantity
not Massachusetts – they’re actually from California…). Starting pay is 14 bucks an hour and the
scheduling is flexible. If you’re from
outside of Maine you can take this job with you when you go home on break.
Berry, Dunn, McNeil
& Parker will host an info session on Tuesday October 4th in
the Atrium. Exact times will be
announced later. This is ahead of their
interview day on October 13th.
The Washington Center , a Thomas partner, will
be here on campus October 12th discussing internship possibilities in our
nation’s capital.
Dawson, Smith Purvis & Basset will have
an interview session on October 19th.
There’s
a doubleheader scheduled for October 20th. It’s MacDonald Page interview Day
AND Woodford’s Family
Services will be on campus as well.
There
will be more – and I’ll have details about these as we get a little closer.
