Career Services Update - week of October 25, 2004!

* Mark your calendar –  Tuesday November 2nd Erin Sylvester from Enterprise Rent-A-Car will be conducting interviews.  You can learn more about Manager Trainee positions here but to apply for a position you must visit the Enterprise website.

Wednesday November 3rd Albin, Randall & Bennett will be interviewing on campus.  They’re looking for full-time Staff Accountant applicants.  Read more about the position here and email me your resume and cover letter if you would like to be considered.

Woodford’s Family Services, a non-profit social services organization, will be on campus Tuesday November 16th from 11am until 1pm.  They are interested in talking to psych majors or anyone interested in a Family Support Specialist position.

* Job Hunting Tips – What does your voicemail sound like?  Is it even your voice on the recording?  Sure the “default” woman on the campus voicemail system has a nice voice (and mouths to feed at home) but this is a chance for you to make an impression by recording a professional greeting.  This also works both ways – check out this article in the Careers section of msn.com.  It has some great pointers regarding things to think about when you leave a voicemail message.

As you look for an internship please keep in mind that it’s best to find an opportunity that will expose you to a variety of work.  You don’t want to work somewhere 15 weeks only being able to say “I know I don’t want to work there”.  By having completed different tasks you’ll be in a better position to judge what work is best for you after graduation.

* New Jobs – The Jobs Posting site is full to bursting with wholesome employment goodness including positions with Social Security in Waterville.  The Claims Representative position is open for folks who are available to start in February – it’s not for everyone, but there aren’t many jobs in this town that will pay you 46 grand after 3 years (you’d start at 26).  This will be viewable on Tuesday.

Also listed are internships with accounting firm Bouchard and Associates in Fairfield and internship positions with the Portland Sea Dogs for next season.

Have a great week!
