* Mark Your Calendar    I’ve narrowed this section down a little so that we’re only looking a couple of weeks out.  For the complete listing please go the Career Services page.

This is tomorrow – please let me know if you are planning to go Email here

* Career Information Day – Technically this is a calendar item, but it deserves separate mention.  On Monday October 17th from 3:00 to 3:50pm the Career Services office sponsors an event where first-year students get to meet someone working in their field.  This is also open to any Thomas student.  Everyone is welcome to attend the sessions.  Here’s a partial lineup:

Marlene Groman, IT Project Manager at Maine MEP, will speak to Computer majors.

Waterville Police Chief John Morris will speak to CJ majors.

Kathy Harris-Smedberg is the new Principal of the elementary schools in Oakland and will speak to our Elementary Ed majors.

Recent Thomas grad Jevon Owens from Wells Fargo Financial  will speak to Finance/Economics majors.

WTOS’s Mr. Mike will speak to Communications, Journalism and Marketing majors (Mike has a degree in journalism/communications from UMass Amherst).

* Job Hunting Tips – If you’ve had a job interview should you send a thank you?  Almost half of the recruiters surveyed by Careerbulider.com  indicated they would discount or completely ignore candidates who didn’t extend that courtesy.  Sending a thank you is a good way to restate your interest and point out things that may not have been covered by the interview.  Read more about this at the MSN Careers webpage.
