Career Services Update - week of October 30, 2006!

* Congratulations New Hire! – Over the summer Kathryn Masse interned with TD Banknorth as an Internal Auditor.  She has converted that experience into a full-time position at graduation.  Keep in mind the summer after graduation isn’t your “last” summer.  It’s the time when you transition from school to full-time work.  If you’re like Kathryn, and you plan ahead, the transition can be a smooth one.  Speak with the Career Services Office about your internship plans.

* Mark Your Calendar    On November 7th Ameriprise Financial will be in Waterville conducting interviews at Colby College.  If you are interested in an interview you are welcome to take part.  Please email me your resume and I will forward it on for consideration.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car will have an interview day on campus Tuesday November 14.  To apply for a position with Enterprise, you must first apply online (the link above will take you there).

The Army National Guard will have an information available outside the Dining Center from 11:30am until 1:00pm on Wednesday November 15th.

* Job Hunting Tips – The National Association of Colleges & Employers has just released their annual Employer Benchmark Survey.  Interesting tidbits include:

Over 41% of employers want you to apply online.

55% of employers require some sort of pre-employment testing for new college grads.

The average length of time from interview to an offer/rejection is 23 days.

(I’ll have more of these next time…)

* New Job Openings –  Citigroup has a variety of openings in their Portland office.  The City of Waterville needs volunteers for election day.  Bed Bath and Beyond will open a store in Augusta shortly and is looking for help.  The NCAA is offering year long internships at their headquarters in Indianapolis.

If you have trouble with your PIN number while trying to view the openings on the Career Services Page it’s not you….  Please go to the Infonet and log in there and click on the link to the Career Services Page from the menu (Yes, it’s a hassle – but it should be fixed soon).

Have a great week!
