*  The MBA Certification exam (CMBA) will be launched next April.  There has been much debate among professors and students about the need for and value of a national standardized test.  The test's success will rely on employers expecting it of applicants and/or students believing it will give them an edge in their job hunt.  There are currently 2.5 million people with MBAs, which account for 25% of all graduate degrees.  What do you think?  Let us know and we'll post some of your comments in next week's update!  (information provided by the NACE spotlight)

 

*  JOB POSTINGS!  We update our job posting page as soon as jobs come in.  I would like to remind all of you that many times a job will be posted as 'various' positions.  For example, this morning we received over a hundred opportunities within the MaineGeneral organization.  SEVERAL of these jobs may be just right for a typical college student!  For instance, there is a file clerk position for 10 - 15 hours a week - right here in Waterville.  Feel free to come in and look through our Job binders.  They are kept on the counter at the front desk. 

 

*  Footprints Recruiters - This is a new recruiting agency that specializes in introducing college graduates to opportunities to teach English abroad.  They do not charge teachers for their services.  Their representatives walk you through the process of obtaining employment at a reputable school, obtaining a visa and arranging a flight, and with any problems that arise before or during your contract.  The employers they represent are professional, reputable institutes looking for sincere candidates who have a genuine interest in teaching and living abroad.  Click on the above link or call 604-677-6556 to learn more.

 

* Career Resource Library - Tucked away in the back of the Career Services Office is our best kept secret!  We have dozens of books available to students and alumni that cover all aspects of job hunting.  We also have a work station set up for any student or alum that would like to create or polish their resume, or job hunt on-line.  We would be happy to review your resume, print it on resume paper, or e-mail it to a prospective employer.
