Career Services
Update - week of February 7, 2005!
* Internship News –
A few days
ago I emailed a notice regarding a summer Internal Auditing Internship
at Banknorth . Interviews for that
are tentatively scheduled to happen Thursday February 17th. If you are planning to apply I need your resume
and cover letter no later than Monday at noon. I’ll then send them off and work on
coordinating interviews.
* Mark your
calendar –
Preparations have moved to the full-readiness stage as Career Services will be
hosting a resume workshop on Sunday
February 13th at 7:00pm in the Atrium. The presentation will last around an hour. Pizza will be served. This presentation is open to all students – I
would greatly appreciate it if you would RSVP.
Thanks!
MBNA
will be hosting an open house for college students at their
There
have been some additions to the list of folks attending our Career Fair on
March 16th. Check out this link for

* Boiled Frogs – This heartwarming scientific experiment works like
so: If you toss a frog into a boiling
pot of water it will immediately jump out, sensing the danger. If you take that same frog and put it in room
temperature water and slooowly turn up the heat the hapless amphibian will stay
put until it becomes stew. Why? Because frogs are apparently only able to
perceive drastic changes in their environment.
This translates well to the business world and there is a parallel that
I can draw too. Throughout your time at
Thomas (and your working life) you should be acquiring new skills and adapting
to the world around you. The people who
do will always have good jobs. The
people who don’t become stew. If you’re
not able to update your resume with a new skill every six months you might also
be unaware that it’s getting warmer……
* New Jobs – Great new stuff to share including: Behavioral Specialists
positions at Care and Comfort of Waterville, an Assistant to the Head
Pro opening at Spring Meadows G.C. in Gray and an Insurance Examiner
job with the State of Maine. Click here to learn more about
other openings.
This one is worth another
spin….
Also
on the jobs posting site – but worthy or separate mention is the application
for the Maine State
Government Summer Internship Program.
This program, administered by the Margaret
Chase Smith Center for Public Policy,
is open to all Thomas students.
