Update - week of February 6, 2006!
* Job Hunting – Many job candidate
searches begin with a phone interview.
Bill’s first rule of phones clearly states that you should never answer
a phone unless you are prepared to speak to the person on the other end.
It
sounds obvious, but you need to consider a few issues before you start
talking. Are there any immediate
distractions (loud music, noisy friends, are you driving?) that would get in the way of a productive
conversation. Do you have the time for a
10 minute talk? What if it stretches to
20 minutes? Will you be able to take
notes – and will you have your resume in front of you? Some recruiters like to catch you “off
guard”. Don’t let them – only answer the
phone when you’re confident you’ll sound your best.
* Mark Your
Calendar – The Thomas College Career Fair is slated for
March 15. Companies are making their
commitments to attend – you can see who’ll be there by
