Career Services Update - week of October 10, 2005! (a little early because of the short week)

The Washington Center , a Thomas partner, will be here on campus October 12th discussing internship possibilities in our nation’s capital.  From 11am until 1pm meet with a representative outside the Dining Center.  TWC offers internships in virtually any major in Washington, DC. 

 

Berry, Dunn, McNeil & Parker will conduct interviews on Thursday October 13.

 

Albin, Randall & Bennett will have an interview day on Friday October 14.

 

Colby College will hold a Graduate & Professional School Fair on Monday October 24th from 3:30 – 5:30pm in Cotter Union.  Thomas students are welcome to attend.  For more information click here.

 

* Career Information Day –  On Monday October 17th from 3:00 to 3:50pm the Career Services office sponsors an event where first-year students get to meet someone working in their field.  This is also open to any Thomas student.  Everyone is welcome to attend the sessions.  Here’s the lineup:

 

Sean Ferguson from BDMP will speak to Accounting students. Room 122

 

Marlene Groman, IT Project Manager at Maine MEP, will speak to Computer majors.

Waterville Police Chief John Morris will speak to CJ majors.  Room 224

 

Kathy Harris-Smedberg is the new Principal of the elementary schools in Oakland and will speak to our Elementary Ed majors.  Room 221   

 

Recent Thomas grad Jevon Owens from Wells Fargo Financial  will speak to Finance/Economics majors.  Room 226

 

Susan Thornton and Lindsey Leach from Maine DHHS will speak to Psychology majors.  Room 227

 

Gary Walker from All Pro Sports Center (across the street) will talk with Sports Management majors.  Room 123

 

WTOS’s Mr. Mike will speak to Communications, Journalism and Marketing majors (Mike has a degree in journalism/communications from UMass Amherst). Room 205

 

Elliot Levy will be speaking to all Management majors.  Elliot works at the Poland Spring Preservation Society, is a professor at CMCC and has owned his own hotel.  Room 228

 

 

* Job Hunting Tips – Don’t underestimate the power of networking during break.  If you have a chance try to mingle with neighbors and family friends.  You never know when you’ll meet someone who can help you secure an internship or job.  You don’t have to be a sleaze about it (or appear pathetic).  That’s part of the definition of a “friend”.
