Students

The most important piece of advice for students is to treat career development as a process, not as a short-term event that takes place as graduation approaches. Even though you will be busy during your four years of college, take time to plan your career steps over the four-year period you are at Thomas. You don't want to approach graduation and have any regrets about things you should have done two years ago. Make a plan, put some effort into it, and know that if you apply yourself, you can pursue anything you want.

Everyone's plan will look different, but take a look at the four-year career plan for action items that you can complete each year of college. And, Career Services is here to help you every step of the way!

An important part of your plan should be pursuing an internship in your field. In a competitive job market, students with practical work experience, such as what is gained during an internship, will have an edge. In addition, completing an internship is important for those who wish to become eligible for the Guaranteed Job Placement program.

Whether you are looking for a career position in your field or a temporary, part-time job, the Thomas online job board is a good resource to finding open positions.
