Find a Job

Finding a job is a job in itself. Job seekers who put forth a full-time effort in locating employment are more successful in landing their ideal job.

As you plan and execute your job search, think of yourself as an independent sales professional selling a valuable service. If you want to be a successful sales person, there are numerous considerations. You need good marketing materials (a sharp resume and a clear, concise cover letter), you need to know your market and your industry (online research, talking with people in your field), you need to chase down leads (networking, building relationships with people), and you need to present your service to prospective customers (responding to open positions, continuous followup with your network of contacts).

And above all, you need to be persistent. It is easy to get discouraged during a job search, but you need to keep your head up, keep a positive attitude, and keep plugging away. Before you know it, you will have a career position.
