Alumni Use Policy
Student accounts are only active when a person is registered for a class. Current students are considered alumni after completing their last final exam or when no longer attending classes. At that time, their network and Moodle accounts (along with email and P: drives) are deactivated and deleted a few months later. Google Apps accounts (used for ePortfolios) are kept active only if used at least once every 12 months. To keep a student account active when moving from one division to another, register for classes in the new division before finishing courses in the current division. Dismissed students accounts are suspended for 9 months, then deleted. The Thomas myThomas system remains accessible to alumni for academic and financial information.
Current students may request a Thomas alumni account up to two months before taking their last class by filling out this form. Alumni accounts will only be created for those who are in good financial standing with and have not been dismissed by the College.
Thomas alumni accounts are created at the Live @ EDU site by Thomas and hosted by Microsoft. Each person receives 5Gb of storage space for web-based e-mail, a calendar, and a contacts database. Information may be easily transferred from the Thomas student system to the Thomas (Live @ EDU) alumni system via Outlook. Office Web Apps is also available for working with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote files.
Once an alumni account is created, current students should begin notification of their change of e-mail address from firstname.lastname@example.org to email@example.com to friends, family, and various organizations. Alumni must transfer any student email/calendar/contacts/files to the new system to continue to have access to these items. Alumni accounts can be accessed several ways:
For email/calendar/contacts (Outlook Web Access), use https://outlook.com/alumni.thomas.edu .
For Office 365: https://portal.microsoftonline.com/ .
For Microsoft SkyDrive and Messenger: https://skydrive.live.com/ .

10/16/12: We have found that Favorites/Bookmarks may not work from the redirected URL (this changes at times). To ensure this doesn't happen to you, please go into your Favorite/Bookmark and change the URL to https://outlook.com/alumni.thomas.edu manually and save. This URL will always work.
10/3/12: Upgraded alumni.thomas.edu to Office365 platform. Alumni should go to https://eduupgrade.office365.com/ to create a new password to work with Office365. Alumni will have two accounts after the upgrade. If alumni need to reset their password a second time, do so at login.live.com using the alternate e-mail address or secret question.
6/21/10: Office Web Apps now available to alumni (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote).
