Psychology
Over the years, Thomas psychology interns have served in a broad range of work environments including hospitals, social service agencies, schools, state government, and special needs camps. While the real-world experiences provided by internships have been very beneficial to students, employers have also benefited from access to a talented pool of highly motivated student interns. Our student interns are capable of taking on a wide range of responsibilities including:
Crisis intervention
De-escalation
Behavior management/modification
Interviewing clients
Resource referrals

“We had a great experience with our Thomas College intern who worked with us in crisis response. She went above and beyond expectations for finding and providing resources. Mallory was highly engaged with clients and families and was able to effectively develop therapeutic alliances in crisis situations in a very short period of time.”
Marylena Chaisson, crisis response team leader, Oxford County Mental Health Services

“We have recently had three psychology students from Thomas College placed in our Access Center Internship Program. These students were all motivated, caring individuals with advanced technical skills. They learned about vetting patients seeking behavioral care into proper treatment venues, and they all performed above and beyond what was originally expected of them.”
Dennis Dix, access center director, Kennebec Behavioral Health
