Sophomore year: focus your interests; put your plan in motion
*Visit Career Services often so they get to know you; take advantage of their programs and their resources
*Fill out the Career Services Online registration form for the Guaranteed Job program and as a pre-internship step
*Ask about employer visits, internships, job shadowing, workshops and other programs
*Continue to use the Career Services website to learn best practices for creating effective resumes and cover letters, networking, and interviewing
*Attend the Thomas career fair, as well as other job and career fairs in the area
*Reflect on your past while you take action toward your future goals
*Reflect on your summer employment - note significant accomplishments or things you did that you liked and disliked
*Finalize your choice of a major
*Continue involvement with at least one organization on campus
*Seek out opportunities to demonstrate leadership in the classroom, in the community, or with a club or group at Thomas
*Attend career-related events, such as employer visits or Career Services workshops
*Continue building relationships and learning from the people you know
*Get to know your classmates; ultimately, you will support each other in your career pursuits
*Build relationships with your professors; the better they get to know you, the more they can help and advise you
*Start planning your internship or study-abroad experience and consult with Career Services about either option
*Visit the Thomas internship website (under "Academics" menu)
*Search for internship positions to get an idea of what's available
*Talk with advisor, professors, mentors and other students to get some ideas about available internships
*Continue to document your experiences and what you are achieving
*Continue developing your ePortfolio
*Revise your resume, and email it to Career Services for feedback
*Develop your skills in alignment with the four Thomas Core Competencies
*Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential in today's world; be able to demonstrate that you can think critically and analyze complex situations
