Background
All students get a private (unshared) network drive known as the P: (or X:) drive; in addition, some students (if requested by faculty) will receive a public (shared) network drive known as the I: drive (for internet documents).
These locations are automatically backed-up every night and accessible from any computer on-campus, HTTP, FTP, or Remote Desktop from off-campus.
If you will be accessing from on campus only:
Creating an X: or P: drive in Windows

Right click on the Computer/My Computer icon

Choose Map Network Drive

Change the drive to X: (or P:)

If you are a student, change the path to \\T1\STUDENTS

If you are a faculty member, change the path to \\T1\FACULTY
-
If you are an administrative staff member, change the path to \\T2\ADMIN

Check the box that says "Reconnect at logon"

Access your network folders using Mac OS X (v10.4.11 and higher)

In the "Finder", use either the "GO" menu and "Connect to Server" or use the Command "K" keyboard command

In the prompt window, enter one of the following URLs:

Students: "smb://www2.thomas.edu/students" or "smb://www2.thomas.edu/internetdocs"
-
Faculty: "smb://www2.thomas.edu/faculty" or "smb://www2.thomas.edu/internetdocs"
-
Administrative Staff: "smb://www3.thomas.edu/admin" or "smb://www3.thomas.edu/internetdocs"

You will be prompted to authenticate with your username and password

Now you can access your network folders
If you will be accessing from both off campus and on campus:
Access your network folders using Windows 7 or Vista

Right click on the Computer icon

Choose Map Network Drive

Change the drive letter to X: (or P:)

Enter the Folder name: (type one of the following choices)

Students: https://www2.thomas.edu/studentsx

Faculty: https://www2.thomas.edu/facultyx

Administrative Staff: https://www3.thomas.edu/adminx

You will be prompted to authenticate with your username and password

Check the box that says "Reconnect at logon"

You can also create a connection to your interndocs folder (I: drive) by right clicking on the My computer icon and choosing Map Network Drive, again

Change the drive letter to I:

Enter the Folder name: (type one of the following choices)

Students: "https://www2.thomas.edu/students/s/smithj", where 's' is the first letter of your username, and 'smithj' is your username

Faculty: "https://www2.thomas.edu/faculty/smithj", where 'smithj' is your username

Administrative Staff: "https://www3.thomas.edu/folder", where 'folder' is your web folder.

You will be prompted to authenticate with your username and password

Check the box that says "Reconnect at logon"

Now you can access your network folders from your applications and through Windows Explorer
Access your network folders using "My Network Places" in Windows XP from on and off campus

Start, Ctrl Panel, Network Connections (OR, Start, My Network Places)

On the left hand side, click on "My Network Places"
-
Choose on the left, "Add A Network Place"

In the wizard, click Next
-
Choose "Another Network Location", Next
-
Type: one of the following choices for the URL:

Student P drive: "https://www2.thomas.edu/studentsx"

Student I drive: "https://www2.thomas.edu/students/username"
-
Faculty X/P drive: "https://www2.thomas.edu/facultyx"
-
Faculty I drive: "https://www2.thomas.edu/faculty/username"

Administrative Staff: "https://www3.thomas.edu/adminx"

You will be prompted to authenticate with your username and password

Now you can access your X: drive folders from My Network Places in your applications and through Windows Explorer
