Connecting to Shared Network Printers
All students have access to print to library, computer lab and student lounge printers. To setup access to one of these printers, use the following instructions:
If you are using Windows 7

Make sure you are connected to the un-restricted Thomas network (ie. you have Internet access)

If you have not yet setup a connection to at least one Thomas network printer or you cannot connect to previously configured printers, perform the following steps. (Otherwise, continue to the next step)

Make sure you have selected a 'Work network' as your network location

Open the Network and Sharing Center by clicking Start, Control Panel, View Network Status and Tasks, located under the Network and Internet heading. (Or go to Start, Control Panel, Network and Sharing Center when using the small icons view of the Control Panel)

Make sure under "View your active networks", it says "Work Network". If it does not, click on the words "Home Network" or "Public Network" and change the selection to "Work Network"

Save your credentials using the Credential Manager for use when accessing the T7 server

Open the Credential Manager by clicking Start, Control Panel, User Accounts and Family Safety, Credential Manager (Or go to Start, Control Panel, Credential Manager when using small icons view of the Control Panel)

If "T7" is not listed under Windows Credentials, add it by clicking "Add a Windows Credential"

Use "T7" as the internet or server address, and "thomas\username" (where username = your username) for your domain username and the password = your Thomas domain password. (Do not include quotes)

Note: Under Windows Credentials, if "T7" is already listed, simply click the entry, and click "edit" to modify this entry to use your current Thomas domain username (using thomas\username) and your Thomas domain password

Click OK when finished

Click "Control Panel Home" to go back to the Control Panel

Connect to a shared network printer (on-campus only)

For a list of printers, go to http://t7/printers

Choose a printer
-
Choose Connect under Printer Actions on the left

Alternate method of connecting to a shared network printer
-
From the Control Panel (Click Start, Control Panel), click "View Devices and Printers" (Or "Devices and Printers" when using the small icon view of Control Panel)

Click Add A Printer
-
Click "Add a network, wireless or bluetooth printer"

Click "The printer that I want isn't listed"
-
Click "Select a shared printer by name"
-
Enter one of the following printer names (based on which printer you want to add)

Library: \\T7\STULASERLIB
-
Library Color: \\T7\STUCOLORLIB
-
Student Lounge (Room 124): \\T7\STULASER124
-
GPH Lounge: \\T7\GPHLASER
-
Bartlett Lab: \\T7\BARTLETTLASER

Townhouse Lounge Laser: \\T7\THLASER
-
Classroom 225: \\T7\STULASER225
-
-
Click Next
-
Install drivers, if prompted

Click Next
-
Select if you want this to be your default printer or not

Click Finish

If you are using Windows Vista or XP on-campus
-
For a list of printers, go to http://t7/printers

Choose a printer
-
Choose Connect under Printer Actions on the left
or

Click Start, Printers and Faxes

Click Add A Printer

Click Next
-
Select "A Network Printer"

Click Next
-
Click "Connect to this Printer"

Enter one of the following printer names (based on which printer you want to add)

Click Next

Select if you want this to be your default printer or not

Click Finish
