Alex Beaton '13 Interns with INTERPOL

Alex Beaton '13, a Criminal Justice major, recently represented Thomas College as an intern at INTERPOL Washington. He conducted his internship from late August through early December.

Alex Beaton '13 at INTERPOOL

Alex heard about the internship at INTERPOL Washington when a recruiter from the Washington Center came to Thomas College. After indicating an interest in what INTERPOL does, Career Services helped Alex connect with The Washington Center.

While an intern at INTERPOL Washington, Alex worked for the Violent Crimes Division, "I was assigned to a senior criminal intelligence analyst supervisor and his team." Alex continued to state, "My job duties were to work with red notices, which are wanted fugitives for murder, assault, and rape.  I would go on to social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace to try to find the suspects' friends and family or even their profile to try to locate them." While Alex was an intern in Washington, he was able to find three suspects who were missing for more than ten years, just through social media and the programs INTERPOL provided.

Alex had known since he was young that he wanted to work with law enforcement. He came to Thomas College because of the great Criminal Justice program.
