Greetings,

The 119th Commencement is right around the corner! The campus is buzzing with so many great end-of-year events and activities.

The Thomas Players put on an amazing production of "The Odd Couple," and the Dance Club performed "In Motion."  Students showed off the work they accomplished through local internships at this year's Internship Expo. Last night, I was honored to attend the 10th Annual Leadership Awards Dessert - so many deserving students, clubs, and organizations were recognized.

Thomas is pleased to announce this year's Commencement speaker, Peter Vigue, Chairman and CEO at Cianbro. Mr. Vigue and Dr. Kenneth Green will both receive honorary degrees at Commencement this year. For more Commencement information, please see the details below. We expect a capacity crowd of 2,200 or more. I look forward to seeing you there!

Until next month...

 Spring 2013 Internship Expo

On April 18, 27 Thomas College students set up in the Oak Room to showcase their experience from recent internships. Students interned at a variety of businesses relating to their course of study. Businesses included for profit, nonprofit, municipal, and state & local government.

Rachel Clark '13 listens to a presentation by David Tirabassi '13 about his internship experience at the Oakland Town Office.

At the conclusion of the event, Provost Dr.Thomas Edwards told students how proud he was of them and spoke about how he hears nothing but positive comments from employers. "Their view of Thomas College is high because of their positive experiences with Thomas College interns," said Edwards.

National Student-Athlete Week

Thomas College Athletes were out in full force during April 8-14 as  part of National Student Athlete Week! The weeklong event is a celebration of the values of NCAA Division III members, recognizing that academics are just as important as athletics and that the involvement of student-athletes is essential to campus life being richer and fuller.

Thomas College athletes participate in the "We Are Thomas Day" as part of the NCAA Division III Week.

According to Hope College's President's Council Chair James Bultman, the purpose of NCAA Division III Week is "to call attention to accomplishments of student-athletes." Each Division III member holds at least one public activity on their campuses during the week.
