Thomas College Benefit Summary
- Plan year: January 1 to December 31
- Eligibility: regular employees working at least 30 hours per week.
- Effective the 1st day of the month following 30 days of employment.

Medical- HNO - No deductible, no co-insurance, 100% coverage after co-pays.
PCP = $20, Specialist = $25, ER = $100, Inpatient = 20% per admission, Outpatient = 20% per admission, Prescription = $10/$25/$40. Maximum out of pocket $2000indv/$4000family.
Medical PPO with HRA – Deductible $2000indv/$4000fam, Co-insurance 80% after deductible, PCP/Spec = $25, ER = $125, Prescription = $10/$30/$50, Maximum out of pocket $4000indv/$8000fam. Employer will reimburse 80% of the deductible through an HRA (Health Reimbursement Account) = $1600indv/$3200fam.
Medical HNO/HDHP with HSA – Deductible $2500indv/$5000fam, all services including prescription are subject to the deductible. After deductible is met PCP = $25, Specialist = 20%, ER = 20%, Prescription = $10/$25/$40. Maximum out of pocket $5000indv/$10,000fam. Employer will contribute $2000indv/$4000fam into an HSA (Health Savings Account) to help pay for medical related expenses.
Dental Insurance $0 deductible with 100% coverage for preventive (Coverage A) services; $50.00 deductible with 80% coverage for Basic (Coverage B) services; and $50.00 deductible with 50% coverage for Major (Coverage C) services. $1,000.00 calendar year maximum.
Life Insurance - Eligibility: regular employees working at least 30 hours per week. Effective the 1st day of the month following 30 days of employment. 100% paid for by the College and coverage equals twice annual regular earnings.
Reimbursement Accounts - Plan year: January 1 - December 31 -eligible on the 1st day of the month following 30 days of employment. Tax sheltered benefit for both medical and dependent care accounts. For medical care accounts; minimum is $260.00 per year, maximum $2500.00 per year. For dependent care accounts, maximum is $2,500.00 per year for single and $5,000.00 per year for married. Annual contract required.
Pension Plan - Plan year: January 1 to December 31- At the end of one year of continuous service within any higher educational institution, all regular employees working at least 1000 hours a year are eligible to participate in the College’s retirement program which is administered by the Teacher’s Insurance Annuity Association and the College Retirement Equities Fund. The College will match up to 6% of the moneys invested in the fund by exempt employees. Additionally the College will contribute a 2% non-contributory rate with a voluntary 4% match (total of 6%) for all regular non-exempt employees working a minimum of 1000 hours per year. Employees may contribute immediately without the College match if they desire.
Long-Term Disability Insurance - Available to salaried regular full time employees who work 30 or more hours per week, following 30 days of employment. 100% paid by the College. The amount of coverage is 60% of income based upon your base monthly salary. The elimination period is 90 days.
Short-Term Disability Insurance
Short-term disability insurance is offered to all salaried regular full-time employees who work 30 or more hours per week. This insurance is voluntary and is paid for by the employee. You can select a weekly benefit amount ranging from $100 to $750 per week in $50 increments, not to exceed 70% of your basic weekly income. You are eligible to participate in the STD plan on the 1st of the month following 30 days of employment.
Sick Time-eligible to regular full time employees & regular full time academic year employees. Administration and staff accrues 1 day per month to a maximum of 30 days, faculty accrues 7 days per semester to a maximum of 90 days.

Educational Benefits - Academic courses at the College are available to all full-time employees after successful completion of the 90 day introductory period. Also after 90 days of service dependents of full-time employees are eligible to apply to the Council of Independent Colleges Tuition Exchange Program (CIC-TEP).
After one year of continuous service, dependents of
full-time employees are eligible for a tuition waiver at Thomas.
