Frequently Asked Questions
Q.
What is my deadline for submitting my financial
aid forms?
A.There is not a specific deadline for submitting
your FAFSA form. The recommended deadline to
file your FAFSA is February 15th. There
may be deadlines associated with specific types
of financial aid, such at State Grants, so be
sure to submit your information as early as
possible. The later you complete your
paperwork, the less aid you may qualify to
receive.
Q.
What is Thomas College's Title IV Code?
A.
Our Title IV Code for the FAFSA is 002052.
Q.
What other documents do I need to submit in
order to receive a financial aid award?
A.
Beginning in March, new accepted students will
receive estimated financial aid awards based
upon the results of their FAFSA. In order
to receive an actual award, you will need to
submit a verification worksheet, federal tax
returns and W-2 forms.
Q.
How long will it take to receive my financial
aid award?
A.
After you have filed your FAFSA, it takes
between 2 and 6 weeks for your information to be
sent to Thomas College. Financial aid
awards for new accepted students are mailed in
mid-March. Additional financial aid awards
will be processed every two weeks.
Q.
What is considered full-time?
A.
Full-time is 12 or more credits per semester.
Q.
How are Stafford loans determined?
A.
Stafford loan amounts are based upon grade
level. A student's federal financial need
will determine if the Stafford loan in
subsidized or unsubsidized.
Q.
How are the Perkins loans determined?
A.
Each year Thomas College has a certain amount of
Perkins loan funds to award to students.
Because it is a limited amount of funds,
preference is given to first and second year
students who are Pell Grant eligible and reside
on campus.
Q.
May I choose to decline the Stafford or Perkins
loans?
A.
Yes, you may choose to decline all or part of
either loan. You are not obligated to
accept any loans you do not want. However,
rejecting a federal loan does not mean that it
will be replaced with grant or scholarship
funds. |
