Connecting your Windows Mobile Device to the Thomas College Wireless Network

- On the Windows Mobile device, set the owner information and a PIN (PIN optional, but recommended)
- Start on a Windows XP or Vista computer and make sure your Windows Mobile 5.0 Device is connected to it via USB with ActiveSync 4.1 or higher
- On Windows XP computer, go to https:\\www2.thomas.edu\certsrv (Vista not yet working on this step)
- Choose "Download a CA certificate, certificate chain, or CRL"
- Choose "Download CA certificate"
- Save the certificate
- Copy the certificate to a folder on device (using Activesync, Explore on Windows XP/Vista computer)
- Open the certificate file on your Windows Mobile device using Programs, File Explorer
- Connect to wireless network
- Go to Settings, Connections, Wireless Lan
- If Thomas College not listed, go to Menu, Network Cards, choose Thomas College
- Authenticate (enter your username, password, and "thomas.edu" for the domain)
- You should now be able to access the wireless network
Note if you have Windows Mobile 2003 or earlier, you may need to do the same for our Equitrac certificate in order for activesync to work. (get from viewing https://www3.thomas.edu/owa)

- To set up Activesync (email, calendar, contacts), you will need the following settings:
- www3.thomas.edu
- SSL required
- username
- password
- domain: thomas
Remove Direct Sync if using Wifi only by either changing the Sync settings or by sync'ing once through GSM. (Direct Sync may cause it to hang)
Note: If changing activesync servers, sometimes you need to delete the old server connection before connecting to the new server.
