POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Associate Director of IT Services
Reports to (Position): Vice President for Information Services

This position includes maintaining all facets of information services needed by the college. The three major areas included in IT services are computer systems, telecommunications systems and audio/video systems.
Class and Grade
This is a salaried position which is an upgrade to an IT Specialist position. The progression path for this position is to Director of IT Services.
Description of Duties and Tasks (include estimation of time allocated to specific job tasks by percentage)
Essential Job Functions (the fundamental job duties, the reason the position exists)
30% End-User Support - answering questions
from computer, telephone and A/V users for all hardware and software currently
owned or leased by Thomas College
20% Systems Management - keeping the computer/telecommunications
systems operating by performing backups on a regular basis, installing new
hardware and software, and troubleshooting system problems
15% Training - showing new and current
employees the tools available to enable them to perform their jobs as
efficiently and effectively as possible
10% Management – overseeing end-user support
work-study positions including: two hardware/software support positions, (and through
the director of library services) IS
desk supervisor, and
IS desk staff.
10% Analyzing - reviewing effectiveness of
current information systems, checking for ways to cut costs, make offices or
personnel more efficient, and enhancing
information
accessibility to all employees
15% Systems Design/Development - Building new information systems
to provide information to various offices, faculty, and students. Creating new programs or
maintaining
existing programs to meet new information needs, repair problems, add new features,
and/or improve performance.

in Computer Information Systems or equivalent required
One year of personal computer troubleshooting
experience or equivalent required
