JOB TITLE:  Vice President for Information Services

Position Summary (General Descriptions/Primary Purpose)

 

This position includes planning, developing, analyzing, designing, implementing, training, and maintaining all facets of information services needed by the college.  The two major areas included in information services are IT and Library Services.  This position reports to the President of the College and serves on the President’s Council.

 

Class and Grade

               

This is a salaried position.

 

Description of  Duties and Tasks (include estimation of time allocated to specific job tasks by percentage)

 

                Essential Job Functions (the fundamental job duties, the reason the position exists)

 

Planning, Budgeting, Collaboration, and Leadership - 30%- creating plans and budgets to address needs in the areas of  IT and Library Services as well as working with President’s Council and various committees

 

Analyzing - 25% - reviewing effectiveness of current processes and information systems, checking for ways to cut costs, make offices or personnel more efficient, and enhancing information accessibility to all employees

 

Systems Design and Development – 15% - building new information systems to provide information to various offices, faculty, and students and creating/maintaining programs to meet new information needs, repair problems, add new features, and/or improve performance

 

Personnel Management – 10% - working with Assistant Directors for IT and Library Services

 

Systems Management – 10% - managing hardware, software and infrastructure resources

 

Help Desk – 10% - answering IT and Library Services related questions

               

 

Other Ergonomic Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

IT Skills

Library Skills

Communication skills using speech and writing

Strategic planning skills

Ability to touch-type at a speed of at least 50 word per minute

                Ability to systematically troubleshoot complex problems

                Ability to manage employees

                Ability to create structured, documented programs and information systems

Qualifications/Employment Standards

MBA and BS in Computer Information Systems or equivalent required

                2 years of Windows server and client knowledge required

                2 years of database design, SQL and VBscript experience or equivalent required

 

                College/High School Information Systems knowledge helpful

                Library experience helpful

                Nortel  PBX experience helpful

                Thin-client experience helpful

                Online Learning experience helpful

                Audio/Video system experience helpful
