Computer Science/IT/Cyber Security Open House - Friday November 14, 2014

Interested in what you can learn in the field of Cyber Security, IT, or Computer Science? Want to see and hear what it is all about? Then be sure to attend the next open house at Thomas College! Join us and hear from students and professors alike. The open house will be held on Friday, November 14, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Summit Room on Thomas College’s campus at 180 West River Road in Waterville.

The schedule for the day will be as follows:

10:30 am You can Code—Really!
If you’ve never had the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of computer logic and programming, here is your chance. It’s easy! Learn the basic concepts of programming and computer science with a series of videos and do-it-yourself drag-and drop programming exercises. And have some fun along the way! See videos staring Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg as well as other sports and music stars that help you along the way. How well will you do writing simple programs to help some Angry Birds and Zombies?!

10:30 am Security, Hacking Back, and Crypto
How to get into Cyber with a degree and a leading certification that adds $$$ to your degree and allows you to get ahead of others. We explain how you get two for one!

  1. Crypto Currencies – how to make a computer that mines coins. What are the options and will it work for you.
  2. Cyber Security and Hacking Back is a real opportunity if you do it correctly. Thomas students will show ethical hacking and real problems and solutions that you will understand.
