Thomas Features Linda Murray as Artist of the
Month
Thomas is featuring the surreal and
abstract watercolors of Linda Murray in its art gallery during the month of
September.
Murray, of
Bath, has more
than 20 years experience with mediums such as watercolor, oil, acrylic, gouache
and collage. Her paintings are held in many private collections throughout the
United States and the United Kingdom. Some of the venues that have shown her
work are: The Maine Art Gallery in Wiscasset, The Chamber of the Speaker of the
Maine House of Representatives, The Chocolate Church in Bath, and the Allander
Gallery in Glasgow, Scotland.
Murray is a current member and former executive director of the Kennebec Valley
Art Association in Hallowell. She teaches art privately and has also taught
courses for the Gardiner Adult Education Program. In addition, she has served as
juror for the Maine Arts Commission and is the former owner
of Wallscapes, Etc., a mural painting company.
She played a key role in bringing the
Arts of the Parks national traveling art exhibition to the University of Maine.
Murray received the Charles E. Gordon Award from the University of Maine, and
was recognized for her volunteer work as a Spirit of America Unsung Hero. Murray
holds a bachelor’s in studio art form the University of Maine at Augusta.
Murray’s work is on display in the
College’s art gallery in its administration building at 180 West River Road in
Waterville. The gallery is open to the public Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to
4:30 p.m.
