Thomas to Hold Debate Between
U.S. Second District Delegates
Thomas College will hold a debate between the candidates vying for the United States House of Representatives for Maine’s Second District on Monday, October 16.
Laurence “Scott” D’Amboise of Lisbon Falls is the Republican candidate. His professional career has varied from working in education to owning a small business. He currently is employed as an eye technician—a position he has held for 15 years. D’Amboise has also worked as a teacher’s assistant and as a steel-mill worker. His political experience includes serving as a Lisbon Falls town selectman. He attended the University of Maine at Orono.
Michael Michaud is the incumbent Democrat. Representative Michaud, of East Millinocket, worked for Great Northern Paper Company for 30 years. Michaud first entered politics in 1980, when he was elected to the Maine House of Representatives, and subsequently served seven terms. He became Maine’s Senate President in 2000, and was later chosen to serve on Governor Angus King’s Productivity Realization Task Force. Michaud was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2002, and is seeking his third term as Maine’s Second District Representative. Michaud has attended the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
The Congressional debate is sponsored by Thomas College and the Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel. It will be moderated by Kennebec Journal Executive Editor, David Offer.
The debate will be held Monday, October 16 at 7 p.m. in the Laurette Ayotte Auditorium at 180 West River Road in Waterville. The event is open to the public.
