Thomas Features JoAnne Houlsen as Artist of the Month

Thomas College is featuring the original paintings of JoAnne Houlsen in its art gallery during the month of December.

The exhibit on display is entitled: "Paintings from Here and Away." The paintings consist of Maine landscapes and paintings from her visits to Europe. Houlsen has lived in Maine for many years and states "there is no where in the world she would rather be . . ."

Houlsen grew up in Boston. She received a B.A. in Studio Art and a B.S. in Education from the University of Maine at Orono and is now a full-time artist working most days at her studio in Bangor. She is a member of Art Space Gallery in Rockland and The Eastport Gallery. She is also represented by a new gallery in Bangor, The Earth First Gallery. Houlsen resides in LaGrange with her husband Michael where they enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren

Houlsen's work is on display in the College's art gallery in its administration building at 180 West River Road in Waterville. The gallery is open to the public Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
